2012-2022: Owner cruises and charters throughout Croatia, Bahamas, USA East Coast and Costa Rica. Oversaw a full refit of Penny Mae including complete paintwork, engine overhauls & interior refit in 2014, and ABS 10 year surveys in 2015. Then worked with the owners on the purchase of a 61m CRN and project managed it’s extensive refit before commencing with a very successful charter program in the Mediterranean and Caribbean. Full management responsibilities of both vessels.

M/Y “LATITUDE” – Captain – 145ft Timmerman Motor Yacht – 492ton
2011-2012: Delivery California to Panama followed by owner’s cruises in Costa Rica, Panama and The Bahamas. Shipyard maintenance periods in San Diego and West Palm Beach. Delivery to Singapore. Mini ISM system and comprehensive management structure working as a two yacht program.

2009-10: Picked Charisma up in Greece and delivered to St Maarten for owner’s cruise and charters. Successful charter season in the Caribbean.

M/Y “PRINCESS MARIANA” – Captain – 258ft Royal Denship Motor Yacht 2479ton
2008-09: Responsible completion of 5 year shipyard maintenance in San Diego. Cruised Mexico to Caribbean via Panama Canal, and on to Florida, Med and Red Sea. Responsible for all operational aspects of the vessel & crew

M/Y “LADY MICHELLE” – Captain – 161ft Trinity Motor Yacht 456ton
2006-08: Responsible final commissioning of the yacht at Trinity Yachts. Successful fully booked Mediterranean summer charter season. Responsible for all operations and management aspects of the vessel & crew – no management or support company

M/Y “YAAKUN” (EX AL MENWAR) – Captain – 215ft Nicolini Motor Yacht 972ton
2006: Responsible post sale refit and preparations for a world cruise. Responsible for all operations and management aspects of the vessel & crew – no management or support company.

M/Y “MY IRIS” (EX SEAHAWK) – Captain – 150ft Trinity Motor Yacht 484ton
2004-06: Responsible for all operations and management aspects of the vessel & crew. Oversaw sale surveys and major maintenance period at Rybovich Spencer. After a busy summer, project managed a high intensity refit including all new furnishings, marbles, upgrade to zero speed stabilizers and major AV system upgrade, amongst others.

M/Y “KATHARINE” (2 YACHTS 177’ & 132’) Captain 177ft / 54m Trinity Motor Yacht – 650ton
1999-04: Responsible for overseeing an intense two month interior/exterior refit of this new yacht. 3 Transatlantic crossings followed by two fully booked and highly successful Mediterranean charter seasons. Awarded best Charter Captain 2002 by Fraser Yachts & Monaco Yacht Club. Responsible for preparation and completion of ISM & MCA surveys. Central America cruise including Jamaica, Cuba, Panama & Mexico. Logged 23,000 miles in the first year aboard the new 177ft Katharine

1995-99: Worked as chief engineer aboard these yachts over a 4 year period. 3 Transatlantic Crossings & Charter Seasons In Spain, France, Italy, Bahamas, Caribbean & New England. Numerous yard maintenance periods it Spain & Florida including annual haul outs and MCA surveys, and preventative maintenance & improvement programs.

SAS “EMILY HOBHOUSE” – Auxiliary Watchkeeper – Daphne Class Submarine, South African Navy
1989-94: Operation / maintenance of main diesel / electric propulsion system, as well as all other auxiliary systems (hydraulics, pumps, pneumatics, electrical, etc). Many lengthy voyages in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans aboard submarine “Emily Hobhouse”. leo served 3 months as bridge watchkeeper aboard ocean supply ship “SAS Tafelberg” during a voyage from South Africa, visiting Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Panama & Columbia.
