The first album in seven years from the British trip-hop pioneers features collaborations with TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe, Gorillaz/Blur mastermind Damon Albarn, Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval and Portishead’s Adrian Utley, among others. Three of the album’s tracks were released on a 2009 EP, Splitting the Atom, including the Adebimpe collab “Pray for Rain”, which neatly connects the dots between the brooding soundscapes of mid-‘90s trip-hop and TVOTR’s funky, futuristic art-rock.
