There are a lot of tall buildings around the world, but even the planet's mightiest structure, the 828-meter-high Burj Khalifa, has nothing on the architectural creations of the fictional world.

Buildworld looked up the tallest buildings in films, fantasy books and video games to see how these fictional structures compare size-wise.

Key Findings:

  • The tallest building in the fictional world is the International Space Elevator in video game "Ace Combat," which measures 100 million meters high.

  • When it comes to movies, the 4,040-meter-high 500 Republica in "Star Wars: Episode I" is the tallest building.

  • "The Lord of the Rings" has the tallest structure of any fantasy book. In the novel, Barad-dûr reaches 1,500 meters into the sky.
