Hanna-Barbera/Everett Collection The Jetsons are coming back to television! ABC has ordered a live-action adaptation of the classic cartoon, and we can't help but imagine who might bring our favorite future family to life. Though the original cartoon series had a mod 1960s vibe that reflected its own era, the live-action, multi-cam sitcom will take place 100 years in the future and lend The Jetsons a more modern lens. Bringing cartoon characters to life with live action doppelgängers is all the rage right now (see: nearly every film in the Disney pipeline), so we got to thinking who would best fit into the Jetsons' space boots... 02 of 07 Ty Burrell as George Jetson Everett Collection; George Jetson is a doting and beloved father, who can't help but continually find himself in a series of scrapes and misadventures (often brought on by his own gullibility). He's basically the cartoon Phil Dunphy—so who better to play him than the man himself, Ty Burrell? The Modern Family actor is already one of TV's favorite fathers, so it'd be a seamless transition for him to play this futuristic doting dad. We can't imagine anyone better to bring to life George's blend of goofiness, physical humor, earnestness, and his extra big heart. Other options? There's a wide pool of TV dads to choose from – from Fresh Off the Boat's Randall Park to Speechless' John Ross Bowie. Or, if you're looking for someone a bit younger who has a lot of comedy chops, may we suggest John Krasinski? 03 of 07 Christina Hendricks as Jane Jetson Everett Collection; Frazer Harrison/Getty Images Jane Jetson is a stylish, intelligent woman who primarily relies on her robot maid to do the housework and views her children and husband with a mix of exasperation, bemusement, and love. Though Christina Hendricks practiced more tough love on Mad Men, her red hair and ability to rock a '60s-inspired look make her the perfect match for Jane. Plus, her wry wit an a deft hand with biting dialogue, combined with her strength in quieter, emotional moments, would be perfect for an updated take on this matriarch. Of course, there's always Amy Adams if you're looking for a redhead with a slightly sweeter vibe (and bigger name). Or if you prefer a sitcom vet, Patricia Heaton and Debra Messing could bring their signature brands of humor to Jane with aplomb. 04 of 07 Dove Cameron as Judy Jetson Everett Collection; JB Lacroix/WireImage Judy is the Jetson's teenage daughter, a mischievous fashion plate who longs to be older than her years so she can be seen as "mature." She's the classic sitcom teenage daughter with spot-on fashion sense (she has inspired many a Halloween costume). Who better to take on the role than a spirited teen herself who's proved herself in Disney Channel sitcoms? From the double duty she pulls on Liv and Maddie to her Queen Bee take on Amber Von Tussle in Hairspray Live!, Cameron has shown she has the chops to graduate to a network sitcom. Not to mention, she could rock Judy's signature white-blonde ponytail. Other choices? Lili Reinhart has brought complexity and an edge of darkness to Betty Cooper on Riverdale—but her gifts with black comedy show she's primed for the sitcom world. Or to keep things in the Mad Men family, Kiernan Shipka has amply proved she can play a teenage daughter with a taste for fashion. 05 of 07 Nicholas/Cameron Crovetti as Elroy Jetson Everett Collection; Steve Granitz/WireImage These adorable boys already played an integral part in one of this year's biggest television hits Big Little Lies—and it'd be fun to see them really let loose as the Jetsons' rambunctious son. Plus, since they're twins, so producers could easily swap them out to play to their strengths and stretch shooting time (a la Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen in Full House). Who else? There's plenty of cute kids out there who could put their own twist on the role—the Crovetti's Big Little Lies co-star Iain Armitage would be equally charming and perhaps bring a quieter energy to the role. If you prefer a slightly older Elroy, there's always everyone's favorite Hollywood moppet, Jacob Tremblay. 06 of 07 Fran Drescher as Rosie the Robot Hanna-Barbera/Everett Collection; John Lamparski/WireImage New Yawk accent? Check. Feisty, tell-it-like-it-is attitude with a wicked sense of humor? Check. Fran Drescher was practically made to give voice to the Jetsons' loyal robot maid who is not afraid to speak her mind (often, with comedic results). 07 of 07 Danny DeVito as Cosmo S. Spacely Everett Collection; Slaven Vlasic/Getty Images Cosmo S. Spacely is easily DeVito's cartoon doppelgänger—the resemblance is uncanny. And DeVito's trademark short fuse and curmudgeonly attitude align perfectly with George Jetson's difficult, penny-pinching, height-challenged boss.
