Introverted Feeling (Fi): Booth is, as Brennan calls him, a rebel, a leader, a free thinker. He asserts his independence by wearing attention-grabbing ties, socks, and belt buckles. He is a man who lives by a code. To him, the way things are is the way things are and it’s very hard to change his mind. He never gives up on his faith no matter how much Brennan tries to reason with him that there is no God and tends to feel slighted when Brennan explains away unconventional lifestyles with anthropology because to him, some things are just wrong. Booth is emotionally sensitive, but prefers to keep his emotions to himself and will describe the facts of an uncomfortable situation before his feelings. People picking apart his emotions makes him uncomfortable. When he figures out why someone commits a murder, he talks through how and why they did it, putting himself in their shoes.

Extroverted Sensing (Se): Booth is an excellent shot and spent his days in the army as a sniper before coming to work for the FBI. He is more comfortable out in the field where he can see and do things, talk to people, chase bad guys, rather than in the lab where he can’t do much. He reads people by watching their expressions and body language.

Introverted Intuition (Ni): “I just know” is sometimes the answer when Brennan asks how Booth can be certain of something. He brings instinct into the mix. He sees for himself a life with a family and works towards that throughout the show, having his heart broken more than once along the way.

Extroverted Thinking (Te): Booth can sometimes be impatient. He hates it when he has no control, often grasping at straws to feel like he has some.
