Celebration of Roses, January 4: Blush Noisette

Link to HMF: Blush Noisette

Acquired From: Antique Rose Emporium

Own Root? Yes

Would I Grow Again? No

Notes: For me, the nicest thing about this rose was it’s fragrance which “throws” a clove-like scent from quite a distance. That being said, I never really warmed to the flowers, which always appeared a bit messy, browned and balled in the rain, and, if there was any humidity in the air, never dropped cleanly.

    1. I agree with you about New Dawn. It continues to surprise me as to how popular it is! So many better climbers out there….

  1. I hated doing it because the plant produced lots of continuous blooms and a gorgeous étoile violette ran through it, but I shovel pruned it for the same reasons you mentioned. Now the clematis is alone but spectacular anyway.

    1. Well, that’s encouraging to hear I’m not alone in not really liking this rose. Etoile Violette has been on my list of must-haves for so long I really don’t know why I haven’t bought that one, yet. How do you feel about it, does it bloom well for you?
