Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte were holiday hair twins.

On Christmas, the mother and daughter matched in braided hairstyles for the royal family's annual walk to church. Princess Charlotte, 8, went with her signature look, two braids tied back with a bow while the rest of her hair hung loose. Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales, 41, also went with a half-up look with a braid peeking out from underneath her fascinator.

This isn't the first time that Princess Kate has taken hair inspiration from her daughter. In 2019, Kate rocked her own version of Charlotte's go-to style at the Chelsea Flower Show in London.

During a 2019 outing in Cumbria, Kate confessed that her styling skills weren't the best while complimenting some little girls' "pretty" braided hairdo.

“I tried to do a plait with Charlotte this morning, and it didn’t really work very well,” she admitted.

Prince William has also struggled with doing his daughter's hair, bonding over the task with fellow dads in March 2019.

“Never try to do a ponytail!” William told one father who talked about watching YouTube videos to help. “Nightmare.”

Kate asked him, “Have you tried to do a plait? It’s the weaving…really hard.”

William added, “I can do [Charlotte’s] ponytail, but that’s about it as I don’t have enough hair to practice on!”

Princess Charlotte may have her go-to style, but in the past year, she's experimented with a few updos while still incorporating her braids.

At King Charles and Queen Camila’s coronation on May 6, Princess Charlotte wore her hair in two braids twisted into an ornate chignon. The style statement doubled as another matching moment with Princess Kate, as the mother and daughter further twinned in matching silver floral headpieces by Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen for the historic event.

The headpieces were a nod to the 1953 coronation of Queen Elizabeth. The headpiece worn by the Princess of Wales looked strikingly similar to the ones worn by the late Queen's maids at her coronation.

"If they did take inspiration from those ornaments, it was a nice way to give Kate something that stood out visually while still reinforcing her current role as a supporter of the King and Queen," Lauren Kiehna of The Court Jeweller told PEOPLE.

Princess Charlotte rocked a similar look for Trooping the Colour in June, the public celebration of King Charles' birthday. She kept her double braids and middle part yet swept the rest of her hair into an updo for the summer event.
