Actress Lea Thompson had a special guest at the screening of Back to the Future in New York City on Thursday night, and no, it wasn’t her younger self back from the past.

The star’s look-alike daughter Zoey Deutch, who is also an actress, was by her mom’s side on the red carpet to support the iconic movie franchise on what was dubbed Back to the Future Day.

The similarities between the 20-year-old, who starred in 2014’s Vampire Academy, and her mother are striking – the duo share strawberry blonde hair and a light complexion, among other things.

Deutch wore a vintage-inspired navy striped, button-down midi frock, while Thompson opted for a solid black dress with lace sleeves and a turtleneck.

“Thanks for always being there for me @zoeydeutch you are my style icon,” Thompson wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo with Deutch from the event.

The 54-year-old played Lorraine Baines McFly, the mother of Michael J.Fox‘s Marty McFly in the film series. Back to the Future Day celebrated the exact date that Fox’s character traveled to in the franchise’s second installment.

Thompson previously told PEOPLE that Deutch and her other daughter with husband Howard Deutch, Madelyn, have only seen the first Back to the Future movie once.

“I never really was like, ‘Watch my movie!’ They know how much their whole life, people have been stopping them on the street and saying, ‘Oh, your mom was so hot in Back to the Future, or whatever like that. It’s strange and weird to them,” she said. “Maybe now – maybe this new DVD I’ll make them watch. I don’t even think they’ve seen Back to the Future 2.”
