Ligularia przewalskii

$16.99

Pot Size: 5.25 Inch Square Pot

  • Large, deeply serrated leaves contrast well with other foliage plants
  • Very tall spikes of gold-colored flowers make it our tallest Ligularia
  • A superb showpiece in the shade garden or any moist site

Ligularia przewalskii is an exciting variety with deeply cut, dark green foliage with black stems. The leaves form a nice mound and are a nice contrast to the tall spikes of yellow flowers. This is an excellent plant to add bold color and texture to the shade garden. Named for Nikolay Przhevalsky, a nineteenth-century Russian explorer and plant collector.

Uses: Borders, Mass Planting, Cut Flower
Nature Attraction: Butterflies
Critter Resistance: Deer
Growth Habit: Upright, Mounding

Homeowner Growing Tips: Grow in moist, moderately fertile soil. Although perfectly shade tolerant, Ligularia can take some sun in reliably moist sites. In average yards, however, shade from hot afternoon sun to prevent wilting, especially in southern climates. Regular deep watering is required during the heat of summer. Avoid windy sites. Cut off spent flower stalks after blooming.
