Barca and Real Madrid to lock horns over Dani Olmo (reliability: 3 stars)

Both Barcelona and Real Madrid want to see Dani Olmo in their squad next season, Corriere dello Sport claim. The La Liga giants have reportedly been impressed by his recent success at RB Leipzig.

It's said that the winger's return to Spain is getting more and more likely.

The Catalans have had Olmo on their radars for a long time as he is a former La Masia player. As for Madrid, it's claimed that their new coach, Carlo Ancelotti, is a big fan of the 23-year-old and has asked the board to sign him.

In the 2020/21 season, Olmo made 46 appearances for the Red Bulls, scoring seven goals and providing 12 assists. He is currently representing Spain at the 2020 Euros where he's recorded two assists in four matches.

'Dani Olmo watching this in absolute disgust': Fans recall funny story as Leo Messi poses with Barca kids

During the Copa del Rey celebrations, several Barcelona players lined up to have their picture take with the trophy and, most importantly, with Leo Messi. Seeing the episode, some fans on Reddit remembered La Masia graduate Dani Olmo, who they thought might have watched the scenes 'in absolute disgust.' Here's why.

manmathb: "What is it?"

Murrderer: "Olmo's a hipster and doesn't give a sh*t about Messi. When he was a kid, his dad forced him to take a picture with Leo even though Dani kept saying no and that he didn't want to. Even in the picture, you can see Dani was not amused and couldn't give a sh*t, lol."

As Olmo revealed in his interview for The Players Tribune, he didn't want to have his picture taken because he was playing with a football at the time and didn't want to be distracted. However, as years passed, he grew grateful for his father having him take a picture with Leo.

"In the end, I have to say I'm glad they forced me because I've still got that picture framed at home. At the time though, I wasn't happy to have my valuable playing time interrupted — even by an icon," Dani said.

Barcelona consider bringing back Dani Olmo; player valued at €40m (reliability: 4 stars)

RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo is on Barcelona's radars these days, according to Diario Sport.

Joan Laporta's arrival is said to have reignited the interest in the attacking midfielder.

Olmo, who also plays as a left or right winger, may become a proper replacement for Philippe Coutinho who's reportedly leaving the club in the summer.

The 22-year-old has scored 5 goals and provided 11 assists in 40 apps for RB Leipzig this season. His estimated value is about €40m.

Barcelona reportedly tried to bring Olmo back to Camp Nou in January 2020 but preferred to sign Francisco Trincao instead.

The Spaniard was part of La Masia between 2007 and 2014 before leaving the academy for Dinamo Zagreb.
