One of the highlights of the wonderful Thomas Demand-curated exhibition “La Carte d’Après Nature,” on view at Matthew Marks in 2011, was a trove of little-seen vintage photos by Luigi Ghirri. A year and half later, the gallery presents “Kodachrome,” consisting of 25 tightly cropped and white-framed photos from the Italian photographer’s first book, self-published in 1978. The mostly unpeopled prints were taken in France and Italy, and show a range of scenes from playful beachside vistas and mountainous landscapes to building exteriors.
