THE EXEMPLARY GRAND TOURER
The Aston Martin DB11 now on sale at Aston Martin Chicago.
It's the ultimate in British motoring craftsmanship. The Aston Martin DB11 results from years of refinement from a legendary brand that was so good that it was the vehicle of choice for a certain British spy. Best of all, the new Aston Martin DB11 is on sale today at Aston Martin Chicago.
What is an Aston Martin DB11?
The Aston Martin is a 2+2 sports supercar that is offered as both a coupe and convertible known as the DB11 Volante. It is powered by a buyer's choice of 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 503 horsepower and 513 lb-ft of torque. Another engine option is the 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12, which is part of the AMR racing package and makes 630 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that shifts so quickly that it feels like a dual-clutch transmission. The transmission is shifted by steering-wheel-mounted paddle-shift levers so you can channel your inner Aston Martin Formula 1 pilot.
The DB in the Aston Martin model name stands for David Brown, who purchased the company in 1947. Brown was a successful engineer and entrepreneur, and through his family's transmission company, built tractors through the David Brown Tractor company. But in addition to engineering, he was a keen racing enthusiast.
In 1946, he saw a newspaper advertisement announcing the sale of a prominent motorcar company. It was all the shove he needed and according to stories at the time, he purchased it for $20,500 or so. Frequently referred to as the savior of the Aston Martin company, he built it into a legendary British brand. His time of ownership became known as the DB years.
The DB11 Volante completes the family; offering an equally stunning, open-topped GT experience.
