Unbeknownst to her, Susie's husband has become involved in drug smuggling and has hidden a large stash of heroin in a toy doll he has given her as a present. The crooks (Richard Crenna, Alan Arkin and Jack Weston) get wind of this and break into Susie's apartment, holding their breath and remaining silent as they wait for Susie to lead them to the drugs. When she realises their presence, she smashes every lightbulb in the place so as to even out the odds, and a nail-biting battle of wits begins.
