With a virtual Tupac and Jimmy Kimmel having gained plenty of the public’s attention, startup Hologram USA is now readying to create a virtual Liberace for a planned first-of-its-kind Las Vegas show.

In partnership with the Liberace Foundation for the Performing and Creative Arts, Hologram USA reported that it has started work on a hologram-like version of the famous entertainer for a feature-length live show that be would staged in such a way that “Liberace” would be able to interact with the audience.
“This is a major step in the evolution of this medium for entertainment,” Hologram USA CEO Alki David saidin a statement. “With our partners at the Liberace Foundation we’ll be able to stage a show so lifelike — the room will be filled with all of the great singer’s charm and charisma.”

For the Vegas show, the Liberace Foundation intends to incorporate the use of actual Liberace belongings, both physically and virtually. Said Jonathan Warren, chairman of the foundation, “[Hologram USA] understands what Liberace was about and are vested in his legacy. Earnings will help us find and fund a new talent just waiting to be discovered.”
A debut date and venue was not revealed. According to Hologram USA, plans are to roll the show out to additional venues both in the U.S. and overseas, following the Vegas launch.
Hologram USA was responsible for the recent appearance of a virtual Jimmy Kimmel, and said it holds the North American license for the system that was used to place a virtual Tupac at Coachella in 2012. The CG Tupac was actually created by VFX house Digital Domain and put on the stage using the aforementioned technique. Hologram USA said it now offers CG character creation in house.
