Li Zongyi (1913-), a native of Tianjin. An ardent lover of Beijing opera since childhood, he often took part in amateur performances. He took up Beijing opera as a profession in 1939, his teacher being Bao Jixiang. His voice is resonant and forceful. He inherited the style of Gao Qingkui, on the basis of which he made some reforms. He is proficient in acting Stabbing Emperor's Robe, Generals of the Yang Family, Wu Zixu, Three Attacks upon Zhu's Village, etc.

Li Huifang (1924-),a native of Beijing. In her childhood she was trained by Li Yulong in lao sheng. She made her debut in 1937. By staging Ruse of Empty City, the Meeting of Heroes, a Snow White Cup, etc., in Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan and Zhejiang, she gradually established her fame. In 1946 she turned to play qingyi and co-performed with Zhou Xinfang in Four Newly Appointed Officials and Two Emperors. After the founding of new China, she has been an actress with China Beijing Opera Theatre, the Mei Langfang Troupe and the Beijing Opera Theatre of Beijing successively. With a sweet and smooth voice, she is good at a large range of roles. Her singing and dialoguing are pleasing and graceful. Her repertoire includes the White Snake, the Butterfly Cup, Lady Mulan Joins the Army, the Mu Ke Fort, General Lu Bu and Beauty Diao Chan and modern play the Red Guards on Honghu Lake.
