A nomadic country musician returns to his estranged family in Tennessee after 40 years on the road, and finds that the damage he did by leaving is nothing compared to the chaos he's stirred up by returning. In the midst of this familial storm, E.F. forges an unlikely bond with his good-hearted grandson Fleming (Reece Daniel Thompson), who refuses to be defined by his grandfather's mistake, and resists the festering anger that has destroyed his family. But when Fleming falls in love with Raven (Hilary Duff), the mere presence of the boy's reviled grandfather threatens to cast a dark shadow of dysfunction over a whole new generation.

A tragic story, well acted and interestingly filmed.
I bought this movie because I'm a Dwight Yoakam fan - he is great in the movie, but I wish he had more time on screen. It's a tragic story of what happens to three sons who were abandoned by their father and left to raise themselves. Dysfunction rules, but one family member manages to rise above what he's lived.

Kris is always fun to watch.
Well, it probably wasn't Kris' greatest movie but anything he does is enjoyable to watch. I like KK and his music so this was fun for me. Little bit weak in the story line.
