Jimi Hendrix's most experimental album, ELECTRIC LADYLAND features the legendary guitarist using the studio itself as a major instrument to enhance his already adventurous sound. Unfortunately, this sprawling masterpiece would be Hendrix's final studio album before his untimely death in 1970. Featuring classic songs such as "Crosstown Traffic," "Voodoo Chile," "Gypsy Eyes," and "All Along the Watchtower," the story of Hendrix's epochal 1968 double album is told in words, music, and rare archival footage. Also included are interviews with Experience bandmates Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell, as well as Steve Winwood (who played organ on the album), and, in his last interview, Chas Chandler, the manager (and former Animals bass player) who nurtured Hendrix's career from its infancy.

    Magic Revealed, the Hidden Jimi.

    As you might suspect, there are a lot of Jimi DVDs out these days. Most of them involve live performance video footage. This DVD does not. In many ways this might not appeal to the typical Jimi enthusiast. OK, all of that said, I still enjoyed the DVD quite a bit. This is because it offers something the other DVDs do not - a chance to hear various tracks/songs of Jimi's 3rd album minus all other parts except Jimi. So there is opportunity to hear just Jimi's track for a given song. I appreciate that this might not appeal to many fans but I found it a very insightful glimpse of the artist. For example, when I heard the rythmn track on Crosstown Traffic I was just blown away. I have listened to the song many many times but this is different. Minus the piano, bass, and drums, you can clearly ...

    Jimi we miss you man

    Having seen the meteoric rise from the man that played with the greats before he went to London and became a legend....Others have tried to copy him but no one even comes close....I played all my vinyl LP's to death and have started to replace all on cd...Now a DVD of one of my favorite albums...

    great dvds.i was very happywith the product.it was ok.

    because i love hendrix.the dvd really made me realize what a great guitarist he was.especially the experience dvd.there is nobody i mean nobody out there that plays like him.

    Hendrix DVD, more history than performance

    I did like the differing views from his mgr and bandmates, very informative. Bit of a montage, sound was fine, chopped up performances though. Must for any Hendrix fan.

    A classic of the series

    The engineer and musicians are interesting and cool. Instrumentation is broken down and isolated by tracks, along with a view of the crazy techniques, skills and styles of Hendrix and team to produce the collage like album.
