About this product

Product Information

Announcing a brand new, cover-to-cover revision of America's pregnancy bible. What to Expect When You're Expecting is a perennial New York Times bestseller and one of USA Today's 25 most influential books of the past 25 years. It's read by more than 90% of pregnant women who read a pregnancy book--the most iconic, must-have book for parents-to-be, with over 14.5 million copies in print. Now comes the Fourth Edition, a new book for a new generation of expectant moms--featuring a new look, a fresh perspective, and a friendlier-than-ever voice. It's filled with the most up-to-date information reflecting not only what's new in pregnancy, but what's relevant to pregnant women. Heidi Murkoff has rewritten every section of the book, answering dozens of new questions and including loads of new asked-for material, such as a detailed week-by-week fetal development section in each of the monthly chapters, an expanded chapter on pre-conception, and a brand new one on carrying multiples. More comprehensive, reassuring, and empathetic than ever, the Fourth Edition incorporates the most recent developments in obstetrics and addresses the most current lifestyle trends (from tattooing and belly piercing to Botox and aromatherapy). There's more than ever on pregnancy matters practical (including an expanded section on workplace concerns), physical (with more symptoms, more solutions), emotional (more advice on riding the mood roller coaster), nutritional (from low-carb to vegan, from junk food-dependent to caffeine-addicted), and sexual (what's hot and what's not in pregnant lovemaking), as well as much more support for that very important partner in parenting, the dad-to-be. Overflowing with tips, helpful hints, and humor (a pregnant woman's best friend), this new edition is more accessible and easier to use than ever before. It's everything parents-to-be have come to expect from What to Expect...only better'.

I got a good deal on this used book that looked brand new

I purchased this book used and when I got it it looked brand new. I bought it for my daughter who is expecting her first child and I had the book when I was pregnant with her and I was going to buy it brand new from Amazon and it was almost $16 and I purchased it used on eBay for under $5 and it still looked brand new, I was very satisfied

  • A great guide for mommies to be!!

When you are expecting your first baby...this is the book you will be recommended...by your Doctor, by other moms, by baby magazines, and it is easy to see why this is such a widely read and loved publication. It has sold over 10 million copies which in itself tells you that this book has something to offer the mom to be. The first thing I liked about this book is the fact that it has individual chapters that correspond to each month of your pregnancy; which is ideal for easy reference. It allows you to understand what development stage your baby is going through as well as experiences you may be having. Also this is not a one size fits all book - it takes into account that we are all different and allows for this. It has questions and answers written into each chapter and it not afraid ...

  • What to Expect...A must read for expectant mommies

I bought a copy of this book for my girlfriend, shortly after she told me she was expecting. It does a very thorough job of describing each prenatal month of development, including things that your doctor will be testing you for during your care. It also is a great resource for nutritional GUIDELINES, and things to avoid taking/using while you are pregnant. One word of caution though....after reading it myself, I found it to be very prescriptive...some of the advice offered made me feel like I HAD to follow it, otherwise I would not be doing what is best for my baby....I was a little offended by the overall tone of the book. However, I would not want that to discourage others from reading it. It is very informative overall...while you're at it, look for a copy of "The Girlfriends ...

  • A must have.

My "babies" are 10 and 14 years old now! However, when I was expecting with both of them, I carried this book around constantly. I would read and reread exactly what was going on in each month. I do agree with one of the reviews that it can make you feel kind of panicky if you have a strange symptom here and there, but, for the most part it's right on. It also provides a lot of reassurances that things are going just fine. I would buy it again if I became pregnant or if someone I know is expecting.

  • A Must-Read for ALL Expectant Moms!

I called this one my 'pregnancy bible'. As a single, 18 year old mom, I was incredibly scared, and knew NOTHING about pregnancy or babies. This was recommended to me by my older sister, who has two children. This book addressed all my concerns, and helped me compile lists for doctors' appointments. It also addressed the one fact that no other book managed to - that all families are different. It addressed directly the use of the 'daddy section' as a section for your 'parenting partner'. I do recommend getting the most recent edition of the book. It has the most current information. I have recommended this book to my friends who are expecting, and they love it too. Thank you, Mrs. Eisenberg, for this work of pregnancy art!
