Delightful, Romantic Cute Comedy! Lots of Fun, too!
Katherine Heigl is the lovely star in this cute, romantic comedy about a very unselfish, attractive young woman who is always the bridesmaid, literally. The film is set in New York City and has a rather 'dizzy' effect as Jane (Katherine) is caught between 2 girlfriends' weddings in the same evening. This sets the setting for a wild, crazy ride involving James Marsden (who I adore), Edward Burns and Malin Akerman. The plot is great, a little unbelievable as far as the boss (Ed) handles situations at work, but Heigl is always a pleasure to watch, and is a favorite of mine. I enjoyed the costumes in this movie, especially some of the outrageous bridesmaids dresses! Katherine has impressed me with her acting since I first saw her in 'My Father, The Hero' and I love the ... 27 Dresses - a Great Romantic Comedy!
I just bought this movie last week and it did NOT dissappoint!! I hate when a movie is all hyped up, like this one, and then does not deliver...not the case here! Heigl did a fantastic job as a likeable leading lady that had great chemistry with James Marsten (Doyle). I feel that a romantic comedy is not great if the 2 people don't have that "it" factor - Chemistry, and these 2 have it. Not only did this movie have a lot more going on than the typical girl meets boy, girl hates boy, etc... story, it was great to laugh at and feel for the main character at the same time, because, let's face it ladies, we have all been there, well, maybe not exactly in her prediciments, but we can relate!! And that is the mark of a great chick flick and romantic comedy - WE CAN ... I just bought this movie last week and it did NOT dissappoint!! Mainstream Romantic Comedy
Although this movie is a bit typical, it's still a breezy, light hearted romp, which is all it appears to be trying to do. It's got formulaic construction familiar in romantic comedies, yet it knows it's just harmless fluff and doesn't try to be anything more. Kathryn Heigl is certainly the strength of the film, with an exuberant approach to her "hopeless romantic" always the bridesmaid character who longs for that special day of her own. The performance is playful and silly when needed, and sweetly honest in the more serious moments. The rest of the cast are all good, too; the personality collisions of various characters are usually well done. The sight gags involving the dresses are clever, and the story runs its course effectively. There are ... Great movie, great price that you don't want to miss.
I've always been a softie for good romantic movies and 27 Dresses didn't disappoint me like others in the past. Katherine Heigl did justice to Jane's role and everyone can relate to the trials of being a bridesmaid. Good story line and never boring. This one will make you cry and laugh all at the same time.

I first saw it at the movies. It is not just the most romantic movie I have ever seen, but the funniest scenes where you can take your male companion. My husband was laughing out loud as well as my daughter.So, what I am trying to say is it is not just a"chick flick",it's so much more. The bar was set up high for the censorship as well. The movie will make you laugh,cry and sit on the edge of your seat. The actors are talented and the whole movie will leave you in a very warm and happy feeling. If you love fashion, music, romance, and suspence,don't wait any longer. You have to see this movie. It is a must keep and watch over and over. I have already seen it 7 times and want to see it again and again. 5 starsI first saw it at the movies.
