Original is far too understated a term to describe this picture, brought to you by the surreal, twisted minds of screenwriter Charlie Kaufman and actor-director Jonze. The story concerns a puppeteer, Craig Schwartz (John Cusack), who discovers his office has a secret portal that leads directly into the brain of one of America's most popular actors, John Malkovich (Malkovich himself, in a hilariously self-mocking appearance). When the journey ends fifteen minutes later, the participant is spewed onto the side of the New Jersey Turnpike. Schwartz uses his discovery as a way to get closer to fellow co-worker Maxine (the always sexy Catherine Keener). Together, the pair form JM, INC., which allows ordinary citizens to join in on the fun for $200 a pop. But when Craig's wife Lotte (a homely Cameron Diaz), as Malkovich, is seduced by Maxine, things begin to unfurl at an even more outrageous pace. Sound confusing? Thanks to Spike Jonze's grounded direction, it isn't. The result is one of the decade's most original films.

A very strange journey into the brain of John Malkovich is at the center
Probably one of the weirdest movies of all time. The story is filled with a huge cast of A-listers. Every aspect of it is nonsensical. As is the case with many of John Cusack's vehicles, this one requires close watching. Filled from beginning to end with sight-gags that are never mentioned or verbally referred to, it is easy to miss some of the best moments if you aren't watching carefully. Features an unsuspecting John Malkovich who becomes a means of escape from life via a half floor in a skyscraper. In one of the offices is a small entry which leads directly into John Malkovich's brain. That trip becomes an enterprise when tickets are sold to people looking for an escape from their lives. Eventually John Malkocitch becomes aware that all is not right. The plot thickens as the ... Probably one of the weirdest movies of all time. The story is filled with a huge cast of A-listers. Creative, funny, and a bit disturbing in the best way!
Wow. This movie is unlike any other I've seen. A total psychological thrill ride into the lives of 3 extremely different personalities and how they all revolve around poor John Malkovich. I don't want to give too much away, so I'll just say a few general tihings: first of all, I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys witty, funny, creative, and *slightly disturbing* movies--muahaha. It is a totally creative idea, there's simply not another movie like this out there. And, not only is the storytelling spot-on, the actors really bring these 3 "lost" characters to life. The acting is superb, I can't say enough about it. A good actor can really make you either HATE or LOVE them for the 2 hours you're watching the movie, and thats how I felt about John Cusack's character down to a T while I ... Wow. One of the best parts about films, in my opinion, is the depth of the plot--the kind that makes you think for days after watching it, and the more I watch this movie, the more I pick up on--it's one of those films with a lot of creative elements and side stories of which to decipher. Also, it leaves some open ends for you to decide on your own interpretation.

If you have an open mind you'll love it. If not you'll turn it off after a few minutes. Cameron Diaz is particularly unattractive in this one, you might not even recognize her. The premise is beyound beflief and the goofy situations are too. If you like Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy, Rocky Horror,Eating Rauol,or such weird fair, you'll love it. The 13 1/2 floor is a hoot. This ain't for everyone, but if you're the one, like me, you'll have a great time.If you have an open mind you'll love it. If not you'll turn it off after a few minutes.
