A 1979 Susan B Anthony one dollar coin with a rare wide rim in uncirculated condition, well-struck design elements and no significant abrasions.
Background: 1979-P SBA $1 Wide Rim, FS-301, MS67+ PCGS. A slight design modification in 1979 resulted in a wider rim on the Susan B. Anthony dollar than had been previously used. This variety is sometimes referred to as the "Near Date" variety, since the date appears closer to the rim. The Wide Rim variety is significantly scarcer in MS67 than its Narrow Rim counterpart.
While the wider rim was used on all Susan B. Anthony dollars that came after, it’s seen on only a small number of 1979-P dollar coins. Though there is no mintage number known for the 1979-P Wide Rim dollar, the total number of surviving specimens is probably fewer than 25,000.
The 1979-P Wide Rim SBA $1 is in high demand and is valuable even in circulated grades. This coin appears to be in the uncirculated MS class.
