Sex & Nudity

  • There are very vague allusions to sexuality in the film, as well as passionate kisses between the two lovers. Many shots of Juliet's cleavage.
  • There is very brief partial nudity seen on Romeo and Juliet when they are in bed on their wedding night. We see Romeo naked from the back for a few seconds, and Juliet's breasts are visible when she gets out of bed.

Violence & Gore

  • Most already know what occurs in the play "Romeo and Juliet". None of that violence in this film's version of the play is done in a manner that is particularly graphic or disturbing.
  • There is a brawl at the beginning of the film where great chaos ensues. Some people are punched and a few are even stabbed with swords near the end, with a little blood shown.

Violence & Gore

  • Mercutio is killed in a duel with Tybalt. After killing Mercutio in a duel, Tybalt is then killed by Romeo in a duel. This scene is intense, but it is not very graphic or bloody.
  • At the very end, Romeo kills himself by drinking a deadly poison. Juliet then commits suicide by stabbing herself with a dagger. Not a bloody or gory scene but pretty sad.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Romeo and Juliet commit suicide in the end.
