Product Description

Green Giant Arborvitae 1-2'

The Green Giant Arborvitae, Thuja plicata, is an attractive evergreen that thrives in hardiness zones 5–7. Once full-grown, it can reach a height of 60 feet, with up to a 20-foot spread. It is a fast-growing cross of the western red cedar and Japanese arborvitae and can grow up to 3 feet per year.

One everyday use of this dark green tree is as a privacy screen in yards or gardens. Due to its resistance to most diseases, firm root, and naturally tidy shape, it is a low maintenance fence or hedge alternative. The dense leaves of the Green Giant Arborvitae, which can reach to the ground, are perfect for homeowners looking to create a natural wall or divider. It is also a tree generally avoided by deer unless they are especially hungry. Trees planted for this purpose should be placed about 5-10 feet apart. They can also be planted decoratively or only as part of a larger garden design. These sturdy trees prefer full sun, well-drained soil, and weekly waterings for ideal health.

The Green Giant Arborvitae can also be used during the Christmas season, as it maintains its color during winter.

It can go long periods after being cut with minimal needle shedding, making it a viable alternative to the classic fir varieties often used. The sweet, almost fruity aroma is pleasant, but not overwhelming, inside the home, and it has the traditional Christmas tree look once decorated. Its needles are soft in comparison to many fir varieties, and its small, brown seed cones are an attractive natural decoration.

The Green Giant Arborvitae likes well-drained soil and grows best in full sun to partial shade.

It is very drought resistant once adequately established. This is an amazing tree for windbreaks. Please avoid high winds while the tree is still small but once they are larger they are very tolerant to high winds and can even withstand heavy amounts of snow and ice.

Planting Tip: These trees are shipped bare root from the last week of October through mid-April. Please plant your tree upon arrival and water well for the first 3-4 weeks. All Arborvitae trees come with a 30 day guarantee. If your tree turns brown and does not survive, simply let us know and we will get a replacement out asap.

The Green Giant Arborvitae is a non native tree and is shipped bare root for easy installation.

    Green Giant Arbor Vitae

They arrived in good shape and we planted right away with year-old aged manure mixed in soil. We water daily until they are established, and then expect daily watering to taper off. We hope they follow the growth expected. and provide the privacy screen we need. So far, so good.

I loves these little trees. They are great for drier areas and do not require a lot of attention. I recommend them
