ABC's "Castle" featured another murder investigation Monday night (April 27), but this one had a different twist: Castle and Alexis are tasked with solving the case at 39,000 feet in the air while traveling to London.

Editor's note: Haven't watched yet? Be aware that there are spoilers in the copy below.

The daddy-daughter duo are traveling abroad to London, as Castle (Nathan Fillion) is scheduled to give a speech about mystery writing, when a mystery unravels on the plane. The flight's air marshal ends up missing, then murdered, and Castle takes charge of the investigation.

With the help of Alexis (Molly Quinn) on board and Beckett (Stana Katic) on the ground, they're able to solve the case without causing an uproar on the plane. Even without as much screen time, Beckett supports and pushes Castle through his fears, for example, encouraging him that he can interrogate a suspect because he's done it a million times with her. Though showing strength as a supportive wife/partner, she's also terrified that the plane won't land or something will go wrong.

The gist of the investigation is such: The air marshal is acting as a bodyguard to an auction house courier, who is wearing a $13 million watch to bring to London. The killer turns out to be the lead flight attendant, whose motive was a little shaky. The airline cut her pension, so she decided to steal the watch. Once she drugged the courier, and when the air marshal/bodyguard caught on, she killed him in the back of the plane and stuffed him in the cargo area.

Lagniappe:

  • Quote of the hour goes to Castle for uttering (or more like screaming), "There's a snake on a mother-flying plane."
