We made it to 2024, another new year, and man … hope always springs eternal when you get to the start of a new chapter.

And then … thousands of years from the grave, old Nostradamus just has to ruin everything. Not familiar with Nostradamus? Well, he’s an ancient astrologer, whom History calls history’s “most famous seer,” and like last year, and it seems just about every year, he left us some words to try to spoil the party.

So he has troublesome predictions for 2024.

Among the reported predictions?

Well, there is a pretty worrisome note tucked in the quatrains for this year that reportedly reads that a “Red adversary will become pale with fear, putting the great Ocean in dread.”

Now, it’s worth noting that, yes, these are quatrains and they have long been interpreted. So, it’s not like Nostradamus is directly saying something is going to go down with China here, but there are plenty of websites that are reading that, checking out the current world climate, and drawing the conclusion that, perhaps, this is a prediction about something taking place with China in 2024.

That would not be fun.

More not fun stuff lies ahead, too, in his words.

One of Nostradamus’ quatrains reportedly reads, “The dry earth will grow more parched, and there will be great floods when it is seen.”

There is also some thought that one of his quatrains references Prince Harry taking over for Charles III as king.

Considering the state of American politics heading into 2024, that last one is small potatoes, Nostradamus.

Climate and war, though, would make for a terrible year.

So, the question is, how accurate has Nostradamus been?

Again, it’s all kind of open for interpretation because his quatrains are open for interpretation. There are folks who believe he accurately predicted the rise of Hitler and other significant historic events.

But we can look back at his 2023 promise of doom and gloom and maybe feel a little better.

Could the year have been better?

Sure.

But last year, the interpretations suggested that he predicted our quest to get to Mars would end, that we would have an economic collapse and people would start eating one another.

So, if you just read that, have a few bucks in your billfold, and don’t have your neighbor ready to roast for New Year’s Eve, you probably feel a little bit better about his odds of being off on this year’s slate of predictions.
