Yancey Hotel. For our first date, my husband took me to a theatre that was beside the Yancey Hotel. The movie - Towering inferno. It was a cold night and the line for the movie was stretched around the block. To get warm we walked the stairs in the Yancey Hotel while we waited for the line to thin down.

Old Carnegie Library (Grand Island, Nebraska) This was the old library before they built the new much larger library down the street from it. It was incredible inside and very organized with old library tables and coveys of books everywhere. I loved going here so much, and did so as often as I could. The new library is spectacular but I will always miss the old one.

Shindo was born in Aki, Hiroshima, Japan on May 5, 1879. He came to the United States in 1903, locating first in Evanston, Wyoming. The picture highlights the Union Pacific Railroad’s passenger depot, completed in 1918.
