Description

The Su Mannau cave is located in the south-west of Sardinia, in the municipality of Fluminimaggiore, is more than eight kilo meters long and was born fifteen million years ago. The part that can be visited is only five hundred meters long and winds along wide and comfortable walkways between rooms full of concretions, stalactites and stalagmites, crossed by small underground lakes. One after the other we find: the room of sleep, with columns fifteen meters high; the Hanging lake, 40 meters long and five meters deep; the Ribaldone hall, the highest (one hundred and fifty meters); the White room, with stalagmites and aragonites; the Virgin room, a pearl of Su Mannau with coral and eccentric aragonites; the Bizarre room, with strange 'mushroom' concretions; the hall of the firs, forty meters high with a floor adorned with "crystal firs". The entrance to the cave was in ancient times a nuragic temple and in the same "Archaeological" room you can admire the votive lamps used at the time for the worship of water. The cave was connected with the nearby Temple of Antas.
