Recently while trolling our Facebook page, we couldn’t help but notice that Hardy Boy Shaun Cassidy took time out of his day to answer fan questions in real time! We thought we’d share some of the fun stuff we learned about the singer, actor, writer and producer.

Any upcoming tours?

Shaun wrapped up a tour in late 2023, and many were asking if he was going to hit the road again and if there were any thoughts of doing a Vegas residency. The short answer to both was no. While he mentioned he had no plans currently to do another tour, that could change down the road, but how about a Vegas stint? That most likely won’t happen, as he expressed he doesn’t really see himself living in Sin City, but would be open to help creating a show.

On his famous family

Many asked how his mom is doing. In case you didn’t know, his mom is Shirley Jones of The Partridge Family fame, and he answered that she is great and lives not far from him, so they each other often. He also stated that since he was 11 when she started doing the show, he was on set often. As far as any great TV moments with her? “I had a show on in the early 2000s called Cover Me on USA. I wrote a two-part episode for my mom and that was fun.” He also answered which of his father Jack Cassidy‘s songs he likes to sing. Cassidy said, “Lots. I sang ‘Why Can’t I Walk Away?’ from Maggie Flynn when I was in New York this June at 54Below. I love ‘Grand Knowing You’ from It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s Superman. ‘Ilona’ from She Loves Me. And ‘There but For You Go I’ from my mother and father’s recording of Brigadoon. I love that whole album.” While we didn’t encounter any questions about hunky older half brother David, he has from time to time written about him and gave him a loving tribute while on tour last year.

What started his career?

“I’m grateful to have had a few. I was a magician at 13, sang in a band at 15, signed a record contract at 17, began acting in series television at 18, worked in the theater all through my 20s, and sold my first script at 29. Oh, and I’ve had a long and still ongoing career as a father (my favorite profession of all).” His inspiration? “Family inspired me to sing. Working as an actor with great writers made me want to create and produce television.” As far as what occupations he’d like to try: “Architect. And I’ll admit I’ve always harbored a secret desire to try stand-up comedy, only because it’s so terrifying.” How about his thoughts on when he was in General Hospital? “How difficult the work/schedule was and how different than primetime drama. I have a lot of respect for the actors who work in soaps and do it well. Not easy.”

Other than starring in The Hardy Boys, he has been quite busy over the past few decades writing and producing many hit TV shows such as New Amsterdam, American Gothic and Invasion. When asked if he would star in another? “Highly doubtful I would, but I never say never to anything these days. I never thought I’d tour again and look what happened there!” But he is currently working on several new projects, “all or none of which you may ultimately see.”
