      Critics Consensus

Despite a well-intentioned and novel premise, Girl in Progress is plagued by jarring tonal shifts and does little to break its characters out of cliché.

Vale apena assistir? Sim Nota: 5 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/14/23 Full Review Christiana H Personally, I liked this movie it was pretty good to me I know a lot of people didn't like this movie because of their own reasons But I liked this movie because it shows what teens go through when wanting to fit in and be different. This movie also teaches you to pay close attention to your kids because in the movie ansiedad's mom was too busy with her 2 jobs and her boyfriend that she didn't know anything that was going on until ansiedad's teacher told her.For a teenage comedy movie its good and underrated Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/08/22 Full Review darren h I liked it. It doesn't quite follow cinematic norms but it was still good. The performances were endearing. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member While this was a good attempt at a sentimental movie, which focuses on the struggles of being a teenager and a single mother , There is nothing redeeming in any of the characters. The ending fell apart with no real pay off . It was a good attempt but fell short when it came to the writing . Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member A lot darker than you are lead to believe and because the darker side to the story is glossed over, that´s what makes it not such a great film. There was so much potential but unfortunately the film can´t quite decide what it wants to be. Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online At its core, Girl in Progress is an endearing mother-daughter portrait reminiscent of Cristina and Flor in Spanglish that is a little bit Gilmore Girls, mixed with a dash of Mermaids. Rated: B+ Sep 8, 2017 Full Review Nathan Rabin AV Club It wants audiences to know it's in on the joke though it's not always apparent that there even is a joke in the first place. May 11, 2012 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens You hope for this mother and daughter to find their way. After all, at the end of the day, isn't each of us really just a Girl In Progress. Nov 26, 2019 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Painful. Awkward. Potentially damaging to your later development -- these common traits associated with adolescence are also succinct descriptions for the latest film from Patricia Riggen, Girl In Progress.
