When Halle Berry became the first – and till this date, only – African-American woman to win the “Best Actress” Oscar in 2002, her career was taken to new heights. The award which Berry received for the interpretation of Leticia Musgrove in the critically acclaimed production Monster’s Ball, turned the former Ohio pageant queen from actress, into icon.

The Oscar stamp of approval naturally fuelled interest from Hollywood producers to cast Berry in their films, as well as from companies looking for A-list celebrity endorsements. A few years after her Oscar win, the opportunity to star as the face of Versace’s Spring/Summer 2006 campaign came along. The model-turned-actress turned model once again, in front of the lens of Mario Testino. On set she didn’t just find Testino – she also found love. Accompanied by a group of male models during the campaign shoot, she ran into Canadian model – now ex-husband and father to her first child – Gabriel Aubry.

The images demonstrate the height of glamour in 21st century fashion, as the actress poses in cleavage-baring gowns and a series of sultry poses for the Italian fashion house.
