Open-world violence fans hoping for a demo of Far Cry 2 are out of luck: Ubisoft has announced that the company has no plans to release a demo for the game prior to its holiday release.

"Even if we put invisible walls around it and said, here's the demo, you can go anywhere you like inside these walls and play it how you want – that's potentially right there eight-to-ten hours of gameplay," said Far Cry 2 creative director Clint Hocking.

"I don't know too many people who are willing to give away a 12-hour game for free."

He makes a good point, but how many Far Cry 2 fans would absolutely adore the company if they were to release a mini-sandbox version of the game? Essentially it would be the same tactic Electronic Arts has applied to the Spore Creature Creator, and look how well that turned out.
