For the second year, all major law enforcement agencies in Bay County gathered at First Baptist Church of Panama City to honor all who lost their lives in the line of duty in Bay County.

On Friday, eight names were read off dating back to 1917 of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in Bay County across all law enforcement agencies.

Captain Rick Warden with the Florida Highway Patrol says they've lost 47 troopers since their inception in 1939 but even then, he said, "One is too many."

City leaders also took the time to thank the men and women who never came home and honor the active members as well.

Panama City City Manager Mark McQueen said, "These men all were trained professionals, who answered a call. A calling of a life of service to their community and indeed a life of service to each of us."

The main message of the day was the fallen officer's service would never be forgotten and their sacrifice was not made in vain.

Captain Warden added, "Their contribution to what we stand for as members that wear a uniform that stands for something that we know is right, is good, and what we're expected to do."
