Returning favorite, joshi legend join Mae Young Classic

WWE seems to be slowy doling out the final baker’s dozen worth of names for next month’s Mae Young Classic (MYC) tapings at Full Sail, which we now know will culminate in a final match at Evolution on Oct. 28 in Long Island, NY.

Yesterday (July 26), to the surprise of no one but the delight of many, the company announced that 2017 semi-finalist Toni Storm will return to the field. The 22 year old Australian is a favorite on the UK indie scene, and in addition to her star-making run though the 2017 MYC, Storm is reported to be one of the centerpieces of the NXT UK brand.

Today’s announcement revealed a very different but no less exciting entrant - Tokyo Sports reports that Meiko Satomura will compete in this year’s MYC. Satomura is not only a 20+ year veteran who started wrestling at age 14 with training from Billy Robinson and Crush Girl Chigusa Nagayo - the strong style legend is a pioneer of the Japanese women’s scene, having founded the Sendai Girls Pro Wrestling.

Satomura may also be familiar to U.S. fans thanks to her work with WCW in the 90s and with Chikara throughout this decade.

These two are also no strangers to one another...

Storm and Satomura join a group which already includes:

Kaitlyn
Kacy Catanzaro
Io Shirai
Rhea Ripley
Nicole Matthews
Jinny
Deonna Purrazzo
Tegan Nox
Jessica Elaban
Reina González
Kavita Devi
Mia Yim
Mercedes Martinez
Killer Kelly
Crystal*
Zeuxis
Isla Dawn
Lacey Lane
Karen Q

* After reveaing the Filipina newcomer as a participant on July 20, WWE has quietly removed her from the announcement she was included in and there’s no mention of her on their website.
