'Redberry considering selling Unreserved'

KUALA LUMPUR: Amcom Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Redberry Sdn Bhd, may sell its magazine publishing business unit to Kassandra

Kassim.

A source from Redberry told NST Business the company is willing to sell Unreserved if the price is right.

However, the deal is still premature and there could be more clarity within a couple of weeks.

Kassandra was part of the pioneer team that founded Unreserved, but left to pursue other opportunities. With the sale of the magazine, helmed by former New Straits Times lifestyle editors Saleha Ali and Suraya Al Attas, Redberry will only retain The Malay Mail newspaper which it acquired from Media Prima Bhd in 2009.

Currently, Unreserved has a print order of about 3,000 copies fortnightly.

Ancom and Redberry group managing director Datuk Siew Ka Wei sold Bernama TV in 2011 and business newspaper The Malaysian Reserve last year.

Another Redberry source said there are plans to reduce The Malay Mail print version and focus completely on the digital version.

“We are reducing our print further

and are already pretty much online and on digital. So far, we have reduced print pages from 56 to 48. The intention is to reduce by half,” the source said.

The Malay Mail has a daily print order of 18,000 copies.

Redberry is a diversified media company that operates an array of advertising assets, which include out-of-home platforms such as airports, billboards along major highways, and digital screens and buses plying major urban centres.
