Deepwater Horizon: Based off the real life event that happened in the Gulf Of Mexico back in 2010, this is probably one of the best films I’ve seen this year. With plenty of intense action, pretty much from the get go, director Peter Berg really brought it on this one.
Berg was able to capture that emotional connection so we could really feel what these people might have been going thru during this horrific event. With massive explosions going off left and right, how would they get off the Well From Hell and where would they go once they got off. It was pretty crazy and exciting to say the least. But I really like how he captured the heroism of certain folks even in the face of death, really showing that will to survive.
Performance wise I think star Mark Wahlberg was good but I really liked Kurt Russell and John Malkovich’s performances in this one and this one is a Must See Movie this weekend.
Masterminds: Another film based on a true life event, but way different and hard to believe. Starring Zach Galifianakis, Owen Wilson and Kristen Wiig this is an outrageously funny movie. The idea that this actually happened in North Carolina back in 1997 is pretty unbelievable. Especially if the personality of the characters was spot on, or even a little for that matter.
Even though you know what you get with Zach, in his movies, I think this was one of his better performances in a while. Still outrageous and over the top, but still incredibly funny. And it should be one his fans will like more than just a little bit.
Now it’s Not A Must See Movie but if you’re looking just to have some good laughs for a bit then this is one you should check out.
