Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XXI! (11/7/10)

Wiki article

One o’clock the next Day and no thread? Man, those writers are just phoning it in.

Methinks the Treehouse franchise needs to be chopped down. None of the segments were even mildly entertaining.

Moving thread to Cafe Society, but on an editorial note, I loved the Milhouse werewolf.

Milhouse werewolf was pretty funny, yes.

I was bored with this ep. By the time they started whoring out Marge’s body in a bikini, I was just cringing. Has she always been built like a 20 year old Hollywood starlet?? I don’t recall her being quite so va va voom before.

I will admit that I also laughed at Homer killing everyone on the ship.

Who was the female vampire with the purple hair supposed to be in the “We’ve got every kind of vampire” shot? She looked like Nymphadora Tonks, who isn’t a vampire.

I laughed at Milhouse and Bart reciting the names of the board games.

And the Milhouse-wolf…

I’m not sure which one you mean, but one of them seemed to be modeled on Elvira. And I liked the opening sequence done as an homage to The Office.

Harmless entertainment all round, I thought. I wish the Twilight parody had been more biting. Maybe with a Harry Potter reference or too since they had Daniel Radcliffe doing the voice.

Can anyone tell me what the beginning part of that bit was referencing? The first-person perspective of chasing the deer and then getting a grilled cheese sandwich with dramatic music.

I thought the whole thing was quite entertaining, particularly the opening bit with Frink and the tivo remote.

The vampire from Underworld.

Especially since they were close to the actual named, but not quite.

They really need to fix the ‘airing have Halloween’ element.

The fact it wore a skirt and uttered a pathetic “yip” is what clinched it.

I also liked Kang and Kodos showing up as Selma’s nerdy and hunky “Mystery Dates.”

Hulu’s not working (for me anyway) and a power outage cancelled my DVR recording last night so I have nothing to contribute. :frowning:

Liked the first story just for the tribute to all the old board games I loved.

Second story, meh. Mild smile when it turned out to be Maggie’s daydream. Maggie is as evil as Stewie, and crossover episode should be a consideration. It’ll never happen though, dammit.

Third story, I liked the appearance of all the off-brand vampires. Not enough was done about the generation gap between today’s and yesterday’s vampires.

All in all, an average outing.

This, except I was more than enthusiastic about the ending to Master and Cadaver. Maggie Simpson as Alex! I LOVED that!

There’s been some discussion over in the Why does Fox run its Halloween specials after Halloween? thread.

I was [del]saying “Boo-urns”[/del] mildly entertained.

As I said over in the other thread, this one was a lot better than the promos made me fear. Still not up to classic TOH standards, but some amusing stuff, including a fairly strong opening.

Oh, thank you! That would explain why I didn’t recognize her.

Dewey Finn, are you sure that wasn’t Vampira? There was a small argument in my house- I’ve watched Ed Wood too many times, and always assume Vampira before Elvira.

Best ep. I’ve seen in quite a while. Glad to see the crew can still bring it home from time to time.

That said, it’s about time to hang it up. They’re right about where Hank Aaron was when he broke Babe Ruth’s record–still effective, but looking into the light. Don’t make us go through two years as DH for the Brewers.

I’m pretty sure that the Vampira/Elvira vampire was the Simpson’s own lookalike, Booberella. You know, Bill from accounting’s daughter.

I loved the first bit with all the old board games. The second bit was “meh.”

I loved the third bit. The beginning with Edmund protecting Lisa from all the vehicles almost crashing into her. Krusty in the clown car with all the clowns flying out and then Otto coming in on the Segway saying, “What? Me again?” had me actually laughing.
