Season 2, Episode 8: The Man, the Myth, the Viagra

This episode is automatically in my top ten of all Sex and the City episodes because it introduces us to the awesomeness that is Steve Brady. But before we get to him…

During a night on the town, Big finally introduces Carrie as his girlfriend and she’s never been happier. I mean the look on her face. You’d think she’d just won the shoe lottery. As my husband says, “Because she’s a fucking whack job.”

Meanwhile, Miranda is on a date with a guy who turns out to still be married, which she finds out when his wife calls his cell phone. As if Miranda wasn’t jaded enough, this pushes her over the edge. And she also has to deal with her best friend Carrie Bradshaw, who is the WORST. Why is she the worst? I’m glad you asked.

Here are some reasons:

#1 – At lunch, Miranda goes on a bitter rant about how she’s too naive when it comes to guys. Charlotte stokes the wrong fire by swearing that men can mean what they say and that Carrie’s relationship with Big has changed overnight. Sadly Carrie can’t even back up Charlotte’s proclamation. All she says is that it feels different and if they got back together it must be for a reason. Well, it doesn’t LOOK any different but whatever helps you sleep at night.

#2 – At some later night, Carrie blows off dinner plans with Miranda (shock of shocks) so that Big can make her veal. While he’s doing this, she asks him to spend more time with her friends. At dinner. At a restaurant called Denial. Which is so on point it’s not even funny.

Miranda didn’t get the memo that Carrie wasn’t showing up and calls her cell phone. Carrie is all, oh Big is making me dinner LOL didn’t you get my message on your MACHINE and Miranda is pissed and points out that in fact nothing about their relationship has changed and it’s all about Big.

Carrie’s reaction:

Miranda hangs up and takes her anger out on the bartender slash her future baby daddy Steve. I love Steve.

#3 – On her way to Denial, Carrie arrives at Big’s apartment for a quick drink before they go meet her friends. It’s going to rain, so Big wants to bail and Carrie ends up going to Denial by herself. (Steve is there because Miranda can’t lie so she decides to be awful to him instead)

Big, for whatever reason, decides to show up after an undetermined amount of time, which shocks Miranda into getting her head out of her ass regarding Steve. Carrie declares this is the night she and Big start becoming real.

I HAVE QUESTIONS! Were you not real before? I thought you already said things were different and for the better. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU???

SIDEBAR: Samantha and Ed, Mr. Viagra. Just, no.
