New Maps - PO maps unlocked

    I decided to take a look at the maps yesterday just to see how they work. I know there are already people working on it but I felt that it would help out anyone interested if I supplied my current knowledge about the maps.

    I managed to unlock a lot of the PO maps and set their coordinates to regions that I thought would best serve them (while making them even in slot count). Wyllman may also be working on adding region locations (and a button), as is Generation-City (the French CXL fansite).

    Below you'll see a link to my patch file that will unlock the maps. It does not work with the unlocker mod; however, this patch will be merged with the new unlocker mod version 2 (coming this week perhaps). So this download is strictly for testing purposes - so you can get a taste of what's to come.

    Also, I'd like to share with you what I just discovered about the GC mods:

    The good folks at generation city (who brought us the pakunpak tool) have also been working on maps and have a related patch. This patch can not be used with my patch above or with Globexco's unlocker.  GC folks are trying to create blank cities (Flat maps - all grass) with open slots - making it easier for map-making enthusiasts to import their own custom maps.

    Legend:

    The bold column titles are the maps individual file types.

    x = yes (there is a file for this map)

    o = yes (there is a little bit)

    a = added

    d = default file used (for testing purposes)

           = no file exists

    I really hope that we can work with GC to make the globe/regions better. I think GC is off to a great start - especially with these mods. And I really want to thank Arcadoli as well.

    Also, I found some more interesting mods at GC. I hope that Globexco, or another mod, could move these over to the mod index.

    more info:

    the planet used in "solomode" is "laury"

    laury.xml is a planet regions descrition, "planted regions" no "regionselect"

    and city slots description.
