Former top-100 recruit joins DePaul after spending her freshman season at Michigan

CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball announced the addition of Michigan transfer guard Kate Clarke on Monday. Clarke has signed her national letter of intent (NLI) and will join the Blue Demons program this summer with three years of eligibility remaining.

Clarke spent her freshman season in Ann Arbor, making 14 appearances off the bench for a team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament round of 32 before falling to eventual national champion, LSU.

"Kate Clarke Is an excellent three-point shooter. Like so many of our DePaul Ball three-point shooters, Kate has the versatility to get to the rim and has an excellent intermediate game" said head coach Doug Bruno. "Keeping with our transfer portal philosophy, we had a previous relationship with Kate having recruited her out of high school."

A former top-100 recruit in the class of 2022, Clarke was a 1,000-point scorer at Carmel High School while picking up All-State and All-County honors in her junior and senior seasons. Clarke averaged 18.1 points per game in her junior campaign while posting nearly 12 points on 50-percent shooting in an injury-hampered senior season. Clarke was named a 2022 Indiana All-Star and was a McDonalds All-America nominee after posting 18 or more points in the final six game of her high school career.

Clarke on DePaul: "There's a ton of reasons why I chose DePaul. Basketball wise I really love Coach Bruno's fast paced offense and I think I fit well into that, especially being a shooter. I also loved the staff and team when I went on my visit, and I couldn't see myself anywhere else. I look forward to helping the team win and do whatever that takes."

The Carmel, Ind. native joins former Michigan teammate Michelle Sidor alongside incoming freshmen Grace Carstensen, Sumer Lee and Shakara McCline as the Blue Demons class of newcomers.
