- Bud feels anger and agony over the recent tragedy in his family; he considers courses of action and makes a decision. Mac moves a ring, and Mic prepares to return to Oz. Webb twice gives Harm news. A secret about Harriet comes to light.
- Bud experiences anger and agony over the recent tragedy in his family. He first considers filing a civil suit for negligence on the part of a Naval Reserve physician. While giving fatherly advice RAdm. Chegwidden dissuades Bud from that plan. Bud then files instead a report of an alleged criminal violation under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), and the matter goes to trial in a court-martial. Mac prosecutes, and she moves a ring. Personal considerations cause Mic Brumby to resign from his new civilian job in Washington and to start the process of returning to his home and to the Royal Australian Navy. Clayton Webb gives bad news to Harm and later gives him good news. Harm suddenly visits his mother in San Diego, and he contemplates another trip to Russia and Chechnya. A secret about Harriet comes into the light, yet she and Bud reaffirm their mutual love and devotion.—DocRushing
- Bud's obsession with blaming the doctor for the death of his second child, Sarah, endangers his career and marriage. Harm decides to tell his mother (Christina Pickles) about his half-brother when he learns Sergei was shot down over Chechnya and taken as prisoner of war.
- At Christmas time, while everyone else at JAG is enjoying the happy time of the season, Bud and Harriet are at little Sarah's grave site unveiling her headstone that has just been placed. Bud vows that it just can't end like this and insists on finding out what happened. Bud and Harriet approach Mic to have him represent the Roberts in their case against Dr. Gettis. Mic warns Bud to stop, leading Bud to realize that Mic can't represent them, as his practice is representing Dr. Gettis. Harriet tries to talk Bud out of pursuing the case, but her pleas are ignored by Bud. Mac is assigned the case by the Admiral despite Bud's plea to be the lead attorney. Even though he is ordered to stay away from the case, he nonetheless can't. Mac questions Dr. Gettis as to why he took so long to respond when Harriet labor was in trouble. Dr. Gettis claims that his pager battery had died and didn't realize he was needed until he heard the overhead page for him.
- When Bud sues over the death of their newborn, he discovers Brumby represents their doctor. Clayton Webb informs Harm that his brother is missing.
