- Big starts introducing Carrie as his girlfriend. Carrie enjoys her time with Big and he makes her feel special. A frustrated Carrie tries to get Big to make time to meet the girls, and he agrees to meet them at "Denial" for an evening of drinks and dinner. Big refers to Charlotte as the Brunette, Miranda as the Red head, and Samantha as trouble. At the very last minute, Big doesn't want to go. Carrie goes alone and lies to her friends that Big is stuck at work.
Miranda is dating Allan Miller (Bruce MacVittie). They go to a comedy club, where the show is really bad. Allan goes to pay the check, but that's when his phone rings and the comedy guy badgers Miranda to pick up the phone, turns out its Allan's wife. She is embarrassed. Allan had lied by saying he was divorced for the past 3 years, when in reality he is only separated. Miranda is turned off by all men and says that they are all liars. Charlotte argues that magical love is still possible. She believes 2 soul mates can meet suddenly and that their lives can change overnight. She is a romantic to the core. Carrie wonders if people are willing to believe anything, just so that they can date.
Next, Carrie blows off dinner with Miranda to cook veal with Big. That's when Miranda meets Steve Brady (David Eigenberg), a cute bartender who wants to be more than a one-night stand. Steve is funny and witty. They have sex, and Miranda comes, twice. Miranda keeps calling him a one-night stand, which irks Steve. Steve wants to ask Miranda out for a date and asks for her phone number. Steve comes back to Miranda's apartment a few days later and asks her out to dinner. He likes Miranda, but she is skeptical. Miranda says that she is meeting her friends at Denial for dinner and Steve decides to meet her there.
Steve meets Miranda at Denial, while she is with the girls. Miranda still treats Steve like a one-night stand, and Steve thinks that Miranda hates all men. Miranda refuses to indulge Steve in any conversation and he leaves the club. A disastrous night gets better when Big suddenly turns up out of the blue. Seeing Big come for changes Miranda's belief about men and she runs after Steve.
Samantha dates an incredibly wealthy man Ed in his seventies. Ed had just financed Donald Trump's new project for $150 million and offers to buy an Island for Samantha if she agrees to date him. Ed has a sumptuous lifestyle and a pocket full of Viagra. Ed is looking for someone to have fun with. Carrie cannot believe that Samantha is considering having sex with a senior. Ed gives Samantha full diamonds set at dinner at his townhouse after dinner. Samantha is tickled pink, and Ed starts putting the moves on her. Samantha is obligated into sex. She kills the lights, so she does not have to see Ed's face. But then Ed has to visit the toilet in the middle of sex. Samantha almost barfs after she sees Ed's saggy rear end. She runs away.
