- Sam and Mercedes as well as Kurt and Blaine encounter trouble in their relationship; Artie regrets his decisions.
- Open with Blaine talking about how much he loves the food in New York City. That love has reached a point where he seems to have put on a few pounds.
Artie is loving his time in New York at film school. Women seem interested in him and he's dating three different girls. The girls he's most interested in is named Julie, who is smart and popular and somebody he'd have considered out of his league a year earlier. Artie sings "Addicted to Love" and asks her out. But Julie says she has a policy about dating guys she's working with.
Blaine is getting jealous of the attention the more buff Kurt is getting from other guys at school.
Mercedes tell Sam that she's a virgin. She's not sure about taking the next step.
Sam tells the guys he wants to get an STD to test to make sure he has a clean bill of health for Mercedes. The guys say they'll go with him.
Artie is called into the clinic and told he's tested positive for Chlamydia. He tells the other guys and has to admit he doesn't use protection. He says he's been sleeping with two different girls and Blaine tells him he needs to tell them.
One of the two girls is furious when Artie tells her, the other doesn't think it's a big deal. Julie asks Artie if he wants to go out the following night.
Mercedes tells Sam she wants to turn to God to figure out what to do. They attend church together and she is called to the front by the preacher. She sings "I Want to Know What Love Is." Eventually she walks over to Sam and holds his hands as she finishes.
Sam is feeling particularly confident in new body but is mindful to be careful of Blaine's feelings. The two of them have a discussion about diet and Blaine is clearly self-conscious. Kurt finds porn on Blaine's computer and is upset.
Mercedes asks for Rachel's input about her first time. She's worried about performance, but Rachel puts her at ease.
The next day in class Kurt is still upset about the computer thing. They sing "Love is a Battlefield." During fencing practice Kurt is pretty rough on Blaine.
Artie brings his date into Kurt's diner. Sam and Mercedes are there as well and she warns him not to assume they'll be having sex that night. Artie tells Julie he doesn't want to have sex for "a week to ten days," which she finds weird since this is their first date. Mercedes, Artie, Sam and Julie sing "Let's Wait Awhile."
That night Mercedes stops Sam while they're fooling around and says she needs to wait until she's married. She says she needs to know the person will be there forever and seems to rule out anything physical. He says he needs time.
Kurt and Blaine talk about what happened in class. Blaine admits he feels like he's "losing" to Kurt and that he doesn't need his protection anymore. Blaine gets emotional and says he's insecure. Kurt wants them to continue as equals and assures Blaine he'll always love him.
In school Artie admits to Julie that he has Chlamydia. She's more upset he slept with the two idiotic girls than the fact he has an STD. She calls him a "creeper."
Mercedes returns to finds Sam has covered the apartment in candles. He's also prayed about them and says he cares more about her than he does sex.
Mercedes tells Rachel about what happened with Sam. She tells Mercedes she isn't interested in guys right now. Mercedes thinks she should keep an open mind.
Artie tells the guys what happened with Julie and says he's going to "give up the game" for a while.
