These iconic ‘Sex and the City’ fashion looks deserve a reboot, too

Dust off those Manolos and grab a cosmopolitan, because “Sex and the City” is returning for its next chapter.

Following Page Six’s exclusive report of the beloved series’ HBO Max reboot, the streaming service confirmed on Sunday that Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis will all reprise their roles for a 10-episode series called “And Just Like That,” set to begin production in late spring.

And while Kim Cattrall — who’s publicly butted heads with her co-stars for years — won’t be part of the project, it’s still sure to be a fashion feast. Under the eye of costume designer Patricia Field, the original “Sex and the City” sparked countless style trends ranging from tulle skirts to $600 stilettos, and there’s no reason why lightning shouldn’t strike twice.

As we eagerly wait for the first photos from the set, read on for 10 memorable “Sex and the City” style moments that deserve a revival — just like the series itself.

There’s no look more synonymous with “Sex and the City” than Carrie Bradshaw’s (Parker) ballerina-inspired tulle skirt from the opening credits — so much so, in fact, that Field later revisited the look by dressing the star in a seafoam green version for the finale. Who’s ready for the return of dancer-off-duty dressing in 2021?

  2. 2. Manolo Blahniks

Sure, Carrie wore Louboutins and Jimmy Choos too — but her first footwear love was undoubtedly Manolo. (She even wore the Spanish designer’s “Hangisi” pumps as her “something blue” when she wed Mr. Big in the first “SATC” movie!) The series put Manolo Blahnik on the map, and we couldn’t imagine a reboot without his shoes — despite the fact that they cost even more today.

  3. 3. Carrie's nameplate necklace

To be clear, this jewelry trend neither started with “Sex and the City” nor ended when it wrapped. Still, we can’t wait to see how the show revisits its heroine’s signature accessory — which, as the story goes, she picked up from a flea market for “practically nothing.” Could Carrie go the J.Lo route with personalized hoops? Or perhaps take cues from Meghan Markle with a dainty gold initial necklace?

  4. 4. Charlotte's prim and proper patterns

From polka dots and seersucker stripes to florals and gingham, Charlotte (Davis) never met a preppy print or pattern she didn’t love — particularly when paired with something pink.

  5. 5. Fendi Baguettes

Who could forget when Samantha (Cattrall) accused a Playboy bunny of stealing her Fendi knockoff? The undisputed It Bag of “Sex and the City,” this petite rectangular purse rose to prominence after Fendi became one of the first designers to loan its wares to the show. The style’s since cycled in and out of favor, but we think another stamp of approval from Carrie and co. could make the Baguette piping hot again.

  6. 6. Carrie's flamboyant flowers

It’s a testament to Carrie’s sartorial savvy that she was able to make giant floral brooches look cool and not clownish; sadly, some of us who tried the copy the look weren’t quite as lucky. We’d be shocked if a giant bloom or two didn’t pop up in the reboot.

  7. 7. Sexy LBDs

Thanks to all the bold accessories and print-mixing that happened on the “SATC” set, it can be easy to forget the classic, clingy and oh-so-’90s little black dresses its core characters lived in during the early episodes. And from Heron Preston to Cult Gaia to Ganni, there are plenty of talented designers putting fresh spins on the style staple today.

  8. 8. Carrie's vintage fur

Appearing in more than one episode as well as in the first “Sex and the City” movie — remember when SJP paired it with PJs and pearls? — this decades-old outerwear is classic Carrie. We can’t wait to see if it returns for “And Just Like That” — or if the wardrobe department updates the look in the form of one of Apparis or Stella McCartney‘s stunning (and animal-friendly) faux furs.

  9. 9. Miranda's power suits

Each member of the show’s “core four” put her own spin on the suit; Samantha’s were plunging and colorful, while Carrie got “drunk at Vogue” in a asymmetrical pinstripes and Charlotte channeled Annie Hall in a vest, tie and trousers. But in today’s climate, it’s lawyer Miranda and her no-nonsense pantsuits that feel most timely — particularly given Nixon’s own recent foray into politics.

  10. 10. Carrie's newspaper dress

Unquestionably one of Carrie’s most iconic outfits, this John Galliano for Christian Dior design made its debut in Season 3 and returned in the second “SATC” movie. It also comes with a scandalous backstory; the print first appeared in Galliano’s controversial Spring 2000 couture collection, which was inspired by Paris’ homeless population. Questionable beginnings aside, the dress is now a piece of fashion and TV history — and as full fans of anything newspaper-inspired, we’re hoping to see it once more in the reboot.
