Guess what, readers? The day is finally here. Derek and Meredith are tying the knot and getting married!! Will they both show up? Will it go smoothly? Will there be drama? Come with me to Wedding land and find out!

A BAD DAY TO GRADUATE
The trauma room quickly becomes packed with a bunch of kids who were on their way to their college graduation before they were all in some kind of crazy car accident with a semi truck. George’s first patient crashes and dies even though he would have been the first in his family to graduate college- and they’re all on their way. Soon another one of George’s patients dies. Obviously this isn’t his fault but he requests that Hunt pull him back- Hunt refuses. Another student is wheeled in but she’s basically already dead. Basically, the valedictorian is the sole survivor- all six of her friends pass away. George is pretty beat up about all his patients dying but Hunt still commends the job he did in the trauma room.

DENNY & THE WEDDING
Izzie is feeling pretty cheery under the circumstances. She is more excited for the wedding than Meredith. But, right before the opening credits, we see that Denny is back for a visit. Is she here to take Izzie to the afterlife? Izzie pages Derek to tell him her delusions are back so they schedule an MRI. The scan is clear of any tumors, however, so Izzie is confused as to why she is still having hallucinations. Derek ponders if they can induce her hallucinations of Denny they may be able to do a scan that reveals what part of her brain is misfiring. That would be pretty cool, actually.

Derek and Miranda hook Izzie up to the brain scan machine so they can wait to see her Denny hallucination on the scanner. Denny doesn’t seem to want to show up at first- but he does- and Derek sees where it’s happening right away. Evidently the tumor was too tiny to get picked up by a normal MRI. But the bad news is that the tumor is so small- and so buried- even Derek can’t get to it for removal. Meredith pitches an idea to Alex before her wedding.

Meredith comes in and explains to Izzie the dress she is holding isn’t for her. Izzie is worried that Meredith is freaking out but then Alex comes in dressed in a tux. Alex and Izzie are going to get married! It’s actually pretty cute even for a black-hearted man like me! Meredith and Christina dress Izzie up and take her to the church. She has trouble walking down the aisle- so George steps in to guide her down. Alex recites a really good set of vows and then they go on a major make out session at the altar.

BEST QUOTE:
Izzie: “You never know the biggest day of your life is the biggest day- not until it’s happening. You never recognize the biggest day of your life- not until you’re right in the middle of it. The day you commit to something or someone. The day you get your heart broken. The day you meet your soul mate. The day you realize there’s not enough time because you want to live forever. Those are the biggest days. The perfect days. ”

  1. Amanda says:

I think Alex can do better, but he really loves Izzie, so the wedding was sweet. I’m kinda glad Derek and Meredith didn’t get married; I don’t think they’re ready, and that wedding SO wasn’t them. I hope they get married when they’re ready, and that they get the kind of wedding THEY want.

That scene where Izzie’s hair started falling out was heartbreaking, even for me and my Izzie-hating heart of stone.
