This week on Gossip Girl, it’s Yom Kippur night! Yes, it’s the return of Cyrus and Eleanor! Although it wasn’t as good as last week, Gossip Girl managed to throw some new twists and turns. Blair and Louis announced the pregnancy; Serena wants to go back to season 1 Serena, Dan is still on the outs with his friends and Chuck FINALLY admits to his faults. And Diana’s storyline is at last picking up some steam…

Dan and Serena

I don’t want to get everybody down but it really feels like this season is going to be the last one, right? I don’t know, I feel like the writers are throwing a lot of season 1 nods in the episodes and they really want to come full circle with the storylines, which brings me to Serena and Dan. Serena wants to get the rights to Dan’s book for a movie. She thinks she has them after one quick conversation but unfortunately for her, Dan’s book is so popular now (REALLY? what is this Harry Potter?) that he’s wanted by big companies. Of course, her boss is mad and threatens her job if she doesn’t actually do something. So, here comes Serena with an actual plan, in which she lies and gives an interview that says Dan already gave the rights to them so all of the other companies back off. Confused yet? In the end, though Serena admits to Blair, which she was dodging all day that she was actually jealous. You guys, Blair is the star of Dan’s book and Serena can’t share the spotlight! Shocker! Serena admits to Dan that she just thought he was the love of her life (please, give me a break, she changes boyfriends every week). Dan forgives her though and looks like these two are going to spend some quality time together…

Chuck

Chuck is on his spiritual journey to find himself (not being ironic here!) so he decides it’s a good idea to try different things like say…sleep with his therapist? Oh Chuck! The therapist is kind of badass though and just lays it all out for him when she’s had enough of his antics. Yes, it’s brutal but it’s just what the doctor ordered for Chuck for him to become serious about changing. It’s about time too! Chuck is one of my favorite characters but he’s been stuck for so long in this depression, self-loathing hell that I just want him to find happiness somewhere. Am I being too cheesy? I don’t care, it’s Chuck Bass!

Blair’s royal dilemma

Meanwhile, Blair and Louis announce the pregnancy to their families and things go as well as one might expect. Louis’s mom is a bitch about it (with evil sister what’s her name) and wants Blair to sign a contract (!) that makes her dependant on the queen to do anything with the baby really. So, Louis breaks up with his family but things cannot be a fairytale for long. Later, he finds the test results and calls Chuck’s therapist to hatch up some kind of plan… What is going on here? I didn’t think I could hate the so-called prince more, but leave it to this show to find new lows for a character!

Diana’s shady past

So Diana’s magazine/blog is finally launching (I thought she fired everyone?) and things are looking great until Gossip Girl undercuts it. Diana is furious and wants Nate and Charlie to find fresh gossip by the end of the day. Charlie and Nate find the old files from season 2 that Bart had on Lily’s family and Charlie wants to give them to Diana. But Nate looks at her with the puppy dog eyes (you know the look!) and guilt-trips her into putting them back in the safe. But of course she doesn’t! Interesting thing though, Diana keeps and burns one photo in Bart’s own file. It looked like her when she was younger and in a school uniform. Could she be Chuck’s real mom? I hope not, Chuck has had the worst stuff happen to him, he really doesn’t deserve more crap like that…

All in all, I enjoyed this episode. Certain parts didn’t make any sense, like Louis talking to Chuck’s therapist but I am happy with where things are going. I just hope Serena and Dan don’t get back together right now, that would be unfair to all the fans. They haven’t been together for a long time; let them rebuild their friendship first. What do you think? Do you think it’s the last season of Gossip Girl? There’s no new episode next week, so give us your two cents!

Been with GG from the start but this episode still had me gritting my teeth…grrr…I know we have to suspend reality and believe in the improbable on GG but seriously…can’t they credit their audience with some sense!?!

It always cracks me up how just one call can make a world of difference – Serena calls up Harvey W’s people and suddenly they call off the deal with Dan’s agent! I mean couldn’t they call back and check with Dan’s agent if this news was really true, or why they changed their mind, or try and negotiate so they can get back the deal of this masterpiece of a book – things that agents in real life would try and do – but nope here they just go by that one call and make huge decisions.

In another site someone had mentioned that the episode preview shown in Canada showed Louis asking the therapist to get Chuck back to his past misdeeds, misbehavior…can see where this is going folks? Louis does that, Blair find outs, gets mad at Louis, sees Chuck in a brand new light and goes back to him!

The writers don’t have the balls to make the far more likely in real life mature love story of Dair happen – so I am already bored with this. Yes, from day 1 we’ve known Chair is end game and given the cookie cutter, predictability of GG I shouldn’t have hoped otherwise…but there was a part of me that hoped GG writers would rise above themselves and give us Dair…:(

I know, I am still in my denial phase…What I hate the most though,is that teh writers are clearly pushing Dan/Serena. NOT all the characters HAVE to end up together! I mean, I am fine with Chuck and Blair but Serena’s character has gone from bad to worse.

But Dair will live in our hearts…lol (Too cheesy?lol)
