- Anvilicious: It's hard to argue the episode treats MMA fighting fairly when it portrays the chairman of the local MMA fighting ring as a Dirty Coward willing to beat up children while commenting that he does the same to his wife.
- Broken Base: Reception of the episode was pretty divisive
. While those who reviewed it and liked it compared it to other episodes like "Itchy And Scratchy Vs. Marge" with some good gags (the final Impending Clash Shot of Lisa and Bart was labeled by IGN as one that could have even properly closed the series), others such as Dana White (the chairman of the Ultimate Fighting Championship) outright hated it because they say it showcases what mainstream media thinks of Mixed Martial Arts (which is to say highly negatively) rather than what they really are. - Crosses the Line Twice: When Chett casually admits to be a domestic abuser while he is punching Marge.
- Designated Hero: Marge Simpson hates mixed martial arts just because, and protests the existence of the sport by flat-out admitting that if she hates it, then nobody should be allowed to see it. The fact that there is truth to Marge's statement that it's morally unwholesome (mostly by the fact Chett Englebrit, the guy who created the tournament, is a colossal asshole and domestic abuser) makes her Right for the Wrong Reasons at the absolute best.
- Recycled Script: The episode is essentially "The Homer They Fall" via "Itchy & Scratchy & Marge."
