Small folio (305 x 230 mm). Original publisher's dark ivory wrappers with illustration of Arlecchino and Columbina by Bruno Angoletta (1899-1954) in color to upper. 4 ff., 39 pp. Text in Italian. Wrappers somewhat worn and browned; spine chipped; partially detached. Uniformly browned; price sticker and handstamp to title; annotations in pencil throughout. Le Furie di Arlecchino premiered in Milan at Teatro Carcano on 7 May 1915. The revised version premiered in Buenos Aires at the Teatro Colón on 19 June 1924/25? "[Adriano Lualdi] studied music in Rome and then in Venice with Wolf-Ferrari. After gaining his diploma in 1907, he began a career as a conductor. In the 1920s he also became active as a music critic: among his numerous writings, Viaggio musicale in Italia is particularly valuable for the light it throws on the Italian musical world of the time. An ardent fascist, Lualdi was 'elected' to parliament in 1929 as representative of the Sindacato Nazionale dei Musicisti. He was an organizer of the first few Venice Festivals (1930-34) and director of the conservatories of Naples (1936-44) and Florence (1947-56)." John C.G. Waterhouse in Grove Music Online.
