Purchase options and add-ons
In Captured! you'll get an insider's look at the alien abduction, previously unpublished information about the lives of the Hills before and after Barney's death in 1969, their status as celebrities, Betty's experiences as a UFO investigator, and other activities before her death in 2004. Kathleen Marden, Betty Hill's niece, shares details from her discussions with Betty and from the evidence of the UFO abduction. She also looks at the Hills' riveting hypnosis sessions about their time onboard the spacecraft. The transcripts of these sessions provide insight into the character of the aliens, including their curiosity, their democratic discussions, and their desire to avoid inflicting pain. In addition, co-author, physicist, and ufologist Stanton T. Friedman, the original civilian investigator of the Roswell Incident, reviews and refutes the arguments of those who have attacked the Hill case, including the star map Betty Hill saw inside the craft and later recreated.

"With the publication of this book, the skeptics' 'wiggle room' has shrunk to zero. No longer can they get away with ignoring or minimizing the importance of various details in order to claim they merely saw a light. Instead, the Hills' story still stands as a strong reminder that we can't explain everything that happens." --from the Foreword by Dr. Bruce Maccabbee, author of Abduction In My Life ― Reviews

About the authors
Kathleen Marden’s insatiable interest in UFOs and ET contact began in 1961, when her aunt and uncle Betty and Barney Hill had a close encounter and UFO abduction in New Hampshire’s White Mountains. As a family member, Kathleen gained firsthand knowledge of Betty’s and Barney’s UFO encounter on the day they arrived home and two days later, she, her parents, and siblings visited the Hill’s home. She has devoted years to painstaking investigation of the Hills' anomalous events and archival research on their UFO abduction case. As the trustee of Betty’s estate, she selected the files from Betty’s collection for a permanent archive at the Milne Special Collections Library, UNH Library, University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH.
Her formal investigation of the Hill's UFO abduction led to her career as an author, investigator and researcher. From 1991-2023, she volunteered for the Mutual UFO Network in various positions such as Director of Field Investigator Training and Founder/Director of MUFON's Experiencer Resource Team. Over a ten-year period, Kathleen expanded her team from three members to forty-five trained, seasoned specialists and attracted PhD and MD psychological and research consultants. In 2012, MUFON recognized Kathleen’s contributions by presenting her with a trophy. In 2015, MUFON dedicated its Symposium Proceedings to her and her team for “working tirelessly to help experiencers from around the world get the help they need to cope with the extraordinary events happening to them in their lives.” She is also the recipient of the 2021 International UFO Congress Lifetime Achievement Award.
During her years as a UFO investigator and researcher, she worked on three studies on nearly 5,000 experiencers of extraterrestrial contact (Marden-Stoner, Edgar Mitchell Foundation for Research into Extraterrestrial Encounters, and Mutual UFO Network). Her compassion for these unfairly targeted innocents led to an alteration in her focus from cold investigation to advocacy of the respectful treatment of people who have interacted, willingly or unwillingly, with non-human entities.
She has appeared as an on-camera commentator on thirty-eight television and video productions. (See IMDb’s list at Kathleen Marden - IMDb/ ). Additionally, she has appeared on innumerable radio shows and podcasts and has spoken at conferences across the United States and in foreign countries.
Her bestselling book with scientific ufologist and lecturer Stanton T. Friedman, MSc. (1934-2019) is “Captured! The Betty and Barney Hill UFO Experience.” They coauthored two additional books “Science Was Wrong” (also available in Chinese), and “Fact, Fiction, and Flying Saucers.” Her book with Denise Stoner “The Alien Abduction Files” includes her investigation of six inter-generational cases of ET contact. Her fifth book “Extra Terrestrial Contact: What to do When You’ve Been Abducted,” is a comprehensive guide to UFO abduction phenomena and a self-help book for UFO abductees. (Also available in French.) Read her latest book “Forbidden Knowledge: A Personal Journey from Alien Abduction to Spiritual Transformation” and her new second edition for deeper insight into Kathleen’s life history, investigations, and experiments.
Stanton T. Friedman, a nuclear physicist with BS and MS degrees from the University of Chicago, is the best-known scientific ufologist in North America and probably the world. He has worked on classified fission and fusion nuclear propulsion systems for space exploration for companies such as General Electric. As a ufologist, he has lectured at more than 600 colleges in 50 states, 9 provinces, and 18 countries. He is co-author of the Roswell book, Crash at Corona, and the author of Top Secret/Majic. He has appeared on numerous TV documentaries including The History Channel and Sci-Fi Channel and hundreds of radio and TV programs. He lives in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.

So I have been aware of the Hill abduction saga virtually all my life. Over the decades, I have read a book or two and dozens of articles about the case. It's also frequently discussed in other UFO books. I vividly remember being glued to the TV as a teenager over the 1975 made-for-TV docudrama of the Hill story starring James Earl Jones and Estelle Parsons.
Thus, ever since KATHLEEN MARDEN'S book CAPTURED! THE BARNEY AND BETTY HILL EXPERIENCE first came out in 2007, I've been taking a pass on it, thinking, "What more is there possibly to say about this already over-analyzed case?" and:
"Do we really need another Barney and Betty Hill book?"
I now know the answer is "Yes!" I decided to purchase "Captured" partly on a whim, but also because it's been too long time since I read a good UFO yarn. I was flabbergasted by how much I still did not know about the case after all these years - in fact, I can say that I have an all-knew perspective.
I have opted to move myself out of the "skeptic" column regarding the Hill abduction into the "believer" column - as difficult as that is for me to say.
(NOTE: Although Stanton Friedman gets top billing on the cover, the primary author is Marden. Friedman consulted and wrote a couple of the latter chapter. Also, Kathleen Marden is Betty Hill's niece).
Marden, with Friedman's contribution, presents a case that may be wholly circumstantial - but the weight and the aggregate of all this circumstantial evidence would be more than enough to hang a man in a court of law.
By contrast, the alternative explanations offered by some of the greatest skeptics and debunkers - including Carl Sagan, James Randi and Philip Klass - seem petty, sparse, cherry-picked and highly theoretical by comparison.
In Captured, Marden present painstaking, point-by-point analysis of every aspect of the case, from an in-depth analysis of the hypnotic regression sessions compared with consciousness memory accounts and Betty's dreams; the lives and character of the Hills; actual physical evidence (left on her dress); the famous "Star Map"; follow-up events and sightings - and how the aftermath played out in the lives of the Hills for decades to come - the latter of which shows how the case actually has gained credibility over the years.
I noticed that some other reviewers were turned off by one of the late chapters in which the authors launch an intense and scathing attack on skeptic and debunkers. (This chapter was almost certainly penned by Friedman). I think some will find the tone of this chapter a bit overwrought, harsh and even mean - and yet, there is not charge made that does not point to obvious, egregious errors committed by debunkers - for which they seem to get a free pass.
Skeptics get a free pass because the public - even myself - still find is astoundingly difficult to wrap the mind around the implications which fall out of the Hill case. I mean, if their story is true - it means space aliens are running around, picking up ordinary people, sticking anal probes up their orifices, and conducting studies on human being like so many wildlife biologists drugging and tagging animals.
The danger, though, is in making comparisons that are mundane. The true meanings behind alien abduction scenarios like the Hill case have their actual basis in a kind overarching-meta-reality ... or ... or ... perhaps in terms of some greater, higher dimensionality of thought and conception of the universe.
The bottom line is: Barney and Betty Hill may have had a genuine abduction experience, but what the event actually means and implies may be something that can never be known in terms of the current way we model our ideas about what is real and what is unreal. It is something that is beyond the ken of material and empirical science - but also beyond any level of metaphysical and spiritual conceptions we have managed to develop as a species at this point in our evolution.

J’avais dévoré The Interupted Journey (le voyage Interrompu) de John G. Fuller. Et hésitais de lire un livre de plus sur les Barney. Je me trompais A lire absolument !!!
Merci au très fiable Stanton Freidman et mille merci à Kathleen Mardeen
Once I started to read I could not put the book down
