Glee: The Music, Volume 2 just continues the stellar work from the first volume. These are musical numbers that are just truly not to be missed. Not just by folks who love Glee, but by ANYONE. Glee is, by NO means, strictly about the music. It has humor on a gut busting scale regularly, and some of the most tear jerking and heart breaking drama on TV. EVER... But all that is best left for the DVD. ( Glee: The Complete First Season ) For the sake of this album, it's all about the music. So without further ado, I give you opinions on the Glee: The Music, Volume 2.

1). A+ - Amber Riley (Mercedes), Kevin McHale (Artie), Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina), and Glee Cast - Proud Mary - This is the way Glee do... Proud Mary... *Queue the horns!!!* Nothing more to say than Tina Turner HERSELF would be proud!

2). A - Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) and Matthew Morrison (Mr. Shue) - Endless Love - An instant Glee classic. Personally, I'd rather Lea Michele have been able to do this with Cory Monteith, but it still came out amazingly.

3). A - Cory Monteith (Finn) - I'll Stand By You - Only Cory's 2nd full solo, and he's improved in leaps and bounds. This a beautiful and melodic cover, and Cory Monteith does an amazing and emotional job.

4). A- - Matthew Morrison (Mr. Shue) - Don't Stand So Close To Me and Young Girl (Mash-up) - This performance is actually kind of creepy on the show, but just the musical aspect of it is absolutely charming. Matthew Morrison can sing, that's for sure.

5). A - Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) - Crush - I never cared for the original version of this song. Didn't hate it, but didn't love it either. But Lea Michele's breathless take on it is sultry perfection.

6). A- - Cory Monteith (Finn) - (You're) Having My Baby - I DESPISED this song when it first came out way back when. Just seemed... wrong. But times have changed, and when you add the Glee story line to it... It becomes very powerful. Cory Monteith does a perfect job with a song that has a VERY dated sound to it. Nonetheless, he sings it beautifully.

7). A - Amber Riley (Mercedes) and Kevin McHale (Artie) with Glee Cast - Lean On Me - Glee brings down that old Gospel feel, and really delivers on this song. The song has a slow beautiful start, and then brings the house down. Amazing!

8). A+ - Amber Riley (Mercedes) - Don't Make Me Over - One of the BEST songs on the whole album. A nice retro sound, but with Amber Riley's stunning vocals. The subtle power of this song, and it's message, is PERFECT for Amber Riley, and more importantly, her character Mercedes, to sing.

9). A+ - Amber Riley (Mercedes), Kevin McHale (Artie), Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) - Imagine - One of the most beautiful songs ever written gets the Glee treatment. This time, instead of powerhouse vocals and show stopping belts, it is quiet, subtle, understated vocal mastery. TERRIFIC!

10). A - Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina) and Glee Cast - True Colors - I do believe this is Jenna's first solo. She's done a few parts on other songs, and she clearly has a beautiful voice. More importantly, Cindy Lauper has such a unique and special voice, and Jenna's voice is a perfect compliment to this song for that same reason. Absolutely beautiful.

11). A++ - Amber Riley (Mercedes), Lea Michele (Rachel Berry), Cory Monteith (Finn), Kevin McHale (Artie), and Glee Cast - Jump - This remains my favorite of all of Glee's fast songs, coming in just ahead of their rendition of Born This Way. This is just pure auditory butt kicking! And the video version of it from the show is just as spectacular. Just a perfect feel good song.

12). B+ - Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) and Cory Monteith (Finn) - Smile (Lily Allen Cover) - I never cared much for this song, but I'm not sure there's anything Lea Michele can sing that wouldn't sound good. A decent effort, even if the style of music isn't my cup of tea.

13). A- - Lea Michele (Rachel Berry), Amber Riley (Mercedes), and Cory Monteith (Finn) - Smile (Charlie Chaplin Cover) - Proof positive that you can have a beautiful and poignant Glee song without having to go for Diva level belting in every song.

14). A+ - Amber Riley (Mercedes) - And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going - This is one of my all time favorite songs! I loved it when Jennifer Holliday first sang it. I loved it when Jennifer Hudson DOMINATED it. I love it now that Amber Riley has put her own personal take on it. And they are ALL THREE powerhouse Diva's. Just amazing to hear her do this.

15). A - Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) - Don't Rain On My Parade - And speaking of powerhouse Diva... This was one of Lea Michele's best performances to date. Look up her singing it live on YouTube. Spectacular, is all that can be said.

16). A- - Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) and Cory Monteith (Finn) - This is one of those cases where I prefer the Glee Cast Version over the original. A song I don't usually care for suddenly became pretty darn good, and I guess that's the best compliment I can pay it.

17). A+ - Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) and the Glee Cast - My Life Would Suck Without You - This is one of their best songs to date, and I'd say Kelly Clarkson would be proud, except that SHE said she was amazed by their version. And amazing it is.

So alright folks, there you have my honest opinions of Glee: The Music, Volume 2. My guess is that if you are here, you already love Glee. And if you haven't given the show a try, but just heard one of their songs somewhere, and are curious... Do yourself and get the albums and the show. They're amazing across the board. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Thanks for your time folks.
Sincerely, R.A. McDowell

I love this show and was thrilled with the first volume of songs from the song. Pretty soon after we have volume 2 and I am esctatic. I found the first one to be a good representation of the show. The performances were great and the cast is very talented but with this second release we see how those words don't do the cast or their vocal abilities justice. This cd sparkles with a magic and a power of its own. It is in no way karaoke and it in no way matters whether you watch the show or know under what context the songs were performed on the show. We have songs ranging from PROUD MARY, CRUSH and TRUE COLORS and they are sung with such passion they take your breath away.

Of course we must mention the ultra talented Lea Michele who shines throughout everything but it in no way takes away from the talent of everyone else. Her duet with Matthew Morrison on ENDLESS LOVE stops me in my tracks the same as the original with Lionel Richie and Diana Ross. Morrison also shines on DON'T STAND SO CLOSE TO ME/YOUNG GIRL. One great bonus on this cd is the build up to the two diva tracks - Amber Riley on AND I AM TELLING YOU I'M NOT GOING and Lea Michelle on Barbra Streisands DON'T RAIN ON MY PARADE. Amazing vocals.

But it is as an ensemble that the group clicks best and the magic happens. PROUD MARY, LEAN ON ME, JUMP and YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU YOU WANT will provide pleasure galore. It is amazing how when something unique comes together and everything gels what wonders can come forth. GLEE is getting award nominations and the show is unlike any other. And this cd is not just a gimicky release to make money off the show which is a musical. This cast is talented and these songs deserve to be recorded. I must add that I find Cory Monteith to be very underrated and his versions of I'LL STAND BY YOU and HAVING MY BABY are great. Bottom line a cast that can perform Kelly Clarkson's MY LIFE WOULD SUCK WITHOUT YOU and in no way sound karaoke but instead provide their own strong version shows they have ultra talant and skill galore.

I've been waiting anxiously for this cd, and am so glad it's finally here. Glee is so unique in that the musical numbers are half of the reason you watch the show, and they're fantastic.

Half of the fun of listening to the cd is picturing the scenes from each song in your head! Listening to 'Jump', I see them all bouncing around on those huge mattresses, and it makes me laugh. For 'Endless Love' I hear Mr Schu's thoughts of how crazy Rachel is. It's hilarious as well as being fantastic music. But the music holds up on its own, and is a great mix of songs sung by a very talented cast.

My only disappointment and complaint is that 'Imagine' is not the true version from the show, with the deaf choir. That performance and song was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen and heard, and it made me cry. I think it is a disservice to just have the regular Glee cast version on the cd, even though it's a beautiful version.

I could have done without 'Having my Baby', as it's a horrible sappy song, and I've always hated it. It was ok in the context of the show, but I wish it wasn't on the cd.

For those that complain that not every song is on the cd, there's already 17 songs on the cd. If they included every song each volume would be a double cd set. I just download the extra songs that I like.

5.0 out of 5 stars Season 1 - Vol 2

1. Proud Mary - Amber Riley (Mercedes), Kevin McHale (Artie), Lea Michele (Rachel) & Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina)
2. Endless Love - Matthew Morrison (Will) & Lea Michele (Rachel)
3. I'll Stand By You - Cory Montheith (Finn)
4. Don't Stand So Close To Me / Young Girl - Matthew Morrison (Will)
5. Crush - Lea Michele (Rachel)
6. (You're) Having My Baby - Cory Monteith (Finn)
7. Lean On Me - Kevin McHale (Artie) & Amber Riley (Mercedes)
8. Don't Make Me Over - Amber Riley (Mercedes)
9. Imagine - Amber Riley (Mercedes), Kevin McHale (Artie), Cory Monteith (Finn) & Lea Michele (Rachel)
10. True Colors - Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina)
11. Jump - Cory Monteith (Finn), Lea Michele (Rachel), Kevin McHale (Artie) & Amber Riley (Mercedes)
12. Smile (Cover of Lily Allen Song) - Lea Michele (Rachel) & Cory Monteith (Finn)
13. Smile (Cover of Charlie Chaplin Song) - Lea Michele (Rachel) & Cory Monteith (Finn) & Amber Riley (Mercedes)
14. And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going - Amber Riley (Mercedes)
15. Don't Rain On My Parade - Lea Michele (Rachel)
16. You Can't Always Get What You Want - Lea Michele (Rachel), Cory Monteith (Finn), Kevin McHale (Artie) & Amber Riley (Mercedes)
17. My Life Would Suck Without You - Lea Michele (Rachel), Cory Monteith (Finn), Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina) & Amber Riley (Mercedes)

Die 2.CD war ihren Kauf wert!

5.0 out of 5 stars Quand de très belles voix s'unissent...
Reviewed in France on January 21, 2012
J'ai adoré "Endless love", "Proud Mary", "Lean on Me" et "Imagine" ou encore "And I Am telling you I'm not going" ou "Don't rain on my parade".
