To this day, it remains to be my favorite show of all time!!! The writers & casts know life, it's as simple as that!!! They didn't pull any punches & only told it how it is!!! It was a sad day when show closed. Oh, how I miss Sunday nights!!!

I gotta confess, my first impression of this show was that it just wasn't for my demographic - straight, male, 20s. I walked into a room at 18 where a gay acquaintance of mine was watching it, and I happened to walk in on a scene where they were talking about the male anatomy at a table. From then on, "Sex and the City" was "that annoying show with women talking about guys dicks."

I gave it another chance after I had lived in a big city in my early 20s and had plenty of romances, and by then, the show really hit for me. Even if you're a straight male, awkward moments like the one listed above are few and far between. For the most part, it's just really great character comedy that'll hit home with people who've been in (or can imagine) outrageous relationship situations. At times, it's also insightful, with Carrie's journeys through relationships being commented on with genuinely smart questions and realizations in her columns.

One thing I will say, though: it probably isn't the greatest idea to let younger, impressionable girls watch this (like ages 13-15). There is a LOT of promiscuity, and I do wonder if some of the crazy-promiscuous girls I met in college (who acted kind of like TV characters) were influenced by watching a show like this too early, without understanding the safety and practical necessities that come with choosing to be sexually active in a big city.

Enjoy! It's fun. As long as you have some life experience to understand it.

I couldn't even count the number of times I've watched SATC over the years. But, I recently did a Season 1 re-watch, and now that I'm older, I appreciate this even more than I did when it was airing on HBO (I watched when I was 18ish - 22ish, and now I'm 30 ish ;)).
I'm a Bushnell fan in general, I like her books, and I love this series. She is witty, sassy, and completely in-tune with pop culture and the inner-workings of friendships and relationships.
I have so much love for this cast of characters. Of course, I always love re-watching Carrie and Big. I know where that goes, now - but can't so many women relate to what Carrie goes through with Mr. Big? That's why I love SATC so much, everything that happens is relatable and could happen in your own life. And, it's hilarious.
If you haven't watched SATC - you must. You must must must!

Be aware, this is HBO - so there is plenty of nudity and uncensored conversation. Doesn't bother me one bit, but if you don't like that sort of thang - well, I wouldn't watch this.

All I am saying is there's a stigma in society that you need to be with someone and get married and have that all figured out by the time you are 30 and this show is a slightly glamorized version of what it could be like if you didn't make that a priority and had a career first and were getting in more serious relationships at 30, that would've blown my mind. You can nitpick this review all you want but I've been married for 4 years and this show is a good perspective of the other side, it's funny and witty and I love the characters and their truthful story arcs.

The four girls and their many dates and boyfriends entertain and make us laugh. It's great fun to watch the very different personalities go about their NYC lives. But the heart of the show is the relationship between Carrie and Mr. Big. I love them both. She's beautiful, successful. She has awesome clothes and a body made to show it off—plus, she's a real person. She's not overly confident. She often doesn't know what to do when she and Mr. Big hit a bump. She's vulnerable and overall a very nice person, but not overly nice. I see why Sarah won so many awards for the role! And Big is great looking and cool. Elusive. After all, if he were easy to pin down, there would be no challenge. I'm glad I checked it out.
